                                                                                                  Rest Area to O'Brien, OR

Friday March 16, 2007

I'm sitting here taking a shit in the bathroom. I can't believe it. Yesterday was awesome. When the sun came down I told Travis let's go to the rest area. Last night when we were on the onramp I told Travis I was going to go to the rest area and find some cigarettes or some food, try and manifest it. Dude, sure enough first trash can I looked in I find a big chunk of chicken breast right at the top. In the next one I found all this tobacco. We had just collected some old ass snipes that had been on the side of the road. They tasted all asphalty and we only took one drag off one. We were desperate. Then I went to the rest area and scored lots of tobacco. When we both had came back to the rest area I asked Travis to let me borrow his headlamp so I could look through the trash some more. "The feast hasn't ended yet," I told him. I scored again! I got Chinese food. I even got us pie for dessert! It was awesome. People throw away the craziest shit. That's a great resource to tap, the ripe trash cans at the rest areas. You can find a lot of good shit.

I am having so much fun out traveling and shit. Without Carol. I am free.

8:49am  I woke up around six thirty. Man, we had the greatest accommodations last night. We ate like kings right out of the trash. Last night we crashed underneath this bridge that was a hop, skip and a jump away from the rest area. It was perfect how there was a really nice place to crash real closeby. This morning I woke up at six thirty and went and took a shit. I was real hungry even though I ate so much last night. When I came back Travis was still asleep. I sat down and smoked some weed. I even found a crossword puzzle in the trash last night. Travis got up and I told him I was hungry. He said, "Let's go hitch." I told him I wanted to find breakfast first. He told me he saw people cleaning trash when he went to try and take a shit. Which means the food will be fresh. There should be new drop-offs. I didn't find anything new. I did find a couple of half-eaten chicken sandwiches, that I am really glad I found because I am full as hell now. Travis didn't want any. He rarely eats breakfast. We are at the hitchspot on the onramp trying to get a ride now. I am having so much fun without Carol.

9:16am  We are still waiting for a ride here at the hitchspot. Damn, no cars are coming. Oh yeah, in all my trash digging last night I found some guy's business card. His name is Doug Vipperman. He's a principal in Chandler, AZ. His email address is dvipperman@creativecoreaz.com.

10:08am  John, better known as Bubba, this CHP trooper just pulled up and started talking to us. He asked us where we were coming from. I immediately asked him, "Are you busy right now?" I hit him up for my story. Travis was real surprised. He all told me under his breath, "Maybe you shouldn't tell him your story." Bubba was all down for it. Like I say, out of all the people I like telling my story to I like telling cops my story the most. He just drove off right now. He's cool.

11:52am  All of a sudden Sarah just pulled over. I saw her earlier at the rest stop. She pulled over and said, "We don't have enough room for your guys, but we can hook you up with stuff." She gave us all this food. I appreciate it, Sarah. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

                     Even dogfood.

Look up Eric McDavid on the internet. He's in jail in Sacramento right now.

2:07pm  I was standing there with Travis on the onramp. Then I got the idea to walk back and try and find a piece of cardboard and making a sign to fly at the rest area. The nice guy inside the visitor information center, he hooked me up with an empty box. He told me, "Sure, just come back here and pick whichever one you want." I got a box. He told me, "It's kind of hard getting a ride out of here." I told him we were on the onramp too.

Made my sign. It says Going North?

2:27pm  I made a sign.  Right when I step foot on the sidewalk and start showing people my sign Sara sees me and asks, "I'm going to Portland. Where are you going?" I told her, "That's great!  I have a friend and a dog, though." She said it was alright, even better. She has two wiener dogs that she's traveling with herself. We just picked Travis up right now. Sarah is taking us to Grants Pass. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

3:43pm  Man, we're having a great ride with beautiful Sara. She volunteered to take us all the way to O'Brien! That's so awesome. We're in Oregon already because we stopped at a gas station and it's full-service.

6:00pm  Sara brought me and Travis to the medicine camp, Shadow's place in O'Brien. I was turned down to see Fawn once again. She can't accept visitors right now, again. Shadow told me that she was busy making crafts to try and make money. Ugh. This was one of the things I wanted to do before I took off back to San Antonio, visit the medicine woman. Well, since I can't then I'm off. On my way home. Guess who picked me up today, hehe. My good friend Sara. Fuck ya'll, she's from Texas, haha. You're going to take me to San Antonio, Sara? I could kiss you. Thank you so much. Thanks for mobilizing me.

Next day..
