 Portland, OR

Monday April 16, 2007

10:25am  I walked over by Mt. Scott shopping center. By the store and taqueria close to Jenny's. I had a big conversation with this homeless guy. Some guy I got a cigarette from. He told me he really enjoyed our conversation. I'm going to get on the bus.

10:41am  I never told you, maybe like twenty minutes ago I got a courtesy ride on the bus. It's raining so the driver felt bad. He was shaking his head the whole time, but he let me on. I'm going to go to Belmont today. Back where Brian and Melissa used to live, when I came with Carol a long time ago. I remember that being a pretty cool little street. I'm going to go over there and see if I can find a place to crash over there.

10:58am  I just impulsively got off the bus. Oh yeah, I had a badass presentation on the bus now. This guy came over and sat down behind me in the back. I smiled at him and to start off with I handed him the Note From the Rich. I told him, "Hey, do you want to check this out? It's kind of funny. It's not religious, I promise." He read it, loved it, so I hit him up for my story. He listened to me great. I'm going to go look for a cigarette. I got off at Hawthorne, over by the Safeway. I'm going to go to the bathroom and layer up. I'm cold.

11:25am  I came to the Shell station here and this Middle Eastern guy is giving me shit. I just walked up and grabbed a snipe out of the ashtray. The guy came out and yelled, "You can't do that here!" I laughed and told him, "Well, I just did it. Are you going to take if from me? Oh, you're not? Good, I'm going to smoke this now." This other guy offered me a cigarette right then. When I walked off I told the Middle Eastern guy, "I forgive you."

11:43am  Walking up on La Calaca Comelona Restaurante Mexicano. I'll hit them up for sure. Damn, they're closed. That sucks.

12:20pm  I'm walking up Belmont. I've been here before. I recognize it. I just walked by the School for Self and Energy Awareness. I would tell them my story, but nobody is here. It says appointment and registration only.

I might call this lady sometime. 503-234-7735. I'll set up and appointment and tell them my story.

12:31pm  Well, it's stopped raining and the sun's coming out. I should be out there flying my sign. I'm going to look for another corner to fly it on. I'll ride the bus to anywhere.

12:49pm  The 15 driver, I don't know his name hooked me up with a ride. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

12:55pm  Tito told me no. He was all, "No, I'm not the manager."

12:56pm  Marcie en Tacos Costa Chica me esta dando comida. Te lo agradezco, Marcie. Todo el mundo recibe credito, gracias.

1:48pm  Bobby hooked me up with a cigarette in downtown Portland. 4th Avenue and shit, I don't know. I appreciate it, Bobby. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

2:12pm  Guess who I ran into. In front of Powell's books. Kelly, the girl I ran into the other night on Alberta Street(4-6-07, 1:10am). She's standing there working here for Greenpeaceusa.org. I'll look that up, for sure. At first I couldn't remember who she was. Then she tugged on the straps of my mission-bag, that blue purse she had given me that night that I conveniently wear on my back now. I instantly remembered her when she did that. [Typing this up on 7-6. I still to this day am using that bag every day.]

2:14pm  Kelly's friend Pete, who also works for Greenpeace, he hooked me up with a cigarette. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

2:47pm  I forgot to tell you. I already hit the library on 10th Street and signed up for the Internet. I should be on by three.

4:23pm  I rode the MAX without paying fare to 82nd. I'm going to try and call Sara. See if she'll smoke me out.

4:31pm  I'm going to go hit up the Pizza Hut on 82nd and Glisan for mistakes.

4:40pm  The nice driver on the 72 let me ride for free. On my way to Powell.

5:11pm  Kyle at the Pizza Hut on 82nd and Powell hooked me up with some breadsticks. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

6:07pm  Not only did Claren let me borrow his cellphone, he gave me a cigarette too. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit, bro. Thanks a lot.

Next day..
