Silver City, NM

Thursday July 22, 2004

9:29am  I just woke up in my house. This abandoned house I crashed in the first day I got to Silver City. Man, it was right there for me. I walked around the neighborhood and couldn't find it. Then, I walked to that playground and saw these young guys and girls hanging out drinking. These highschool kids playing truth or dare. Then the house ended up being like only a block away. Perfect.

That house is at State Street and Alabama Street. Not Alaska Street, like I said before.

9:54am  I am leaving my house on State and Alabama.

10:11pm  I stopped in Penny Park and switched out my tennis ball. I'm going to walk to the rescue mission and see if I can do my laundry.

10:15pm  I came to CTS Cleaners. I'm going to see if Jamie is still giving me a ride on Friday.

10:17am  I walked into CTS Cleaners and saw Jamie. She didn't smile at me or anything. I told her, "How's it going. Just making sure you can still take me to Albuquerque on Friday. I was just stopping in to say hi." She was expressionless the whole time I was there. I told her, "Well, I guess I'll go to the mission and do my laundry," and left.

10:30am  I stopped in at Rejuvenations Coffee Shop and said hi to Whitney. Now I'm going to walk to the mission and do my laundry.

For some reason I think I remember seeing a sign at the mission that said you couldn't do any laundry after ten thirty. I can at least take a shower, I think.

10:41am  I asked this one guy if he minded being in a picture and he said no. I took a picture of the mission.

Oh yeah, I scored two cookies too.

10:43am  Brian went in his truck and let me use his cigarette lighter. Everybody gets credit, thanks. Brian was the one in the picture I just took. Oh, and I found out I can't do either, laundry or take a shower. No hot water after 7:30am. They need it for the food, or something.

11:27am  I asked his guy Jimmy in front of the mission if he had a lighter. He said sure, handed me one and even said I could keep it. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

11:36am  I am sitting here in front of the mission waiting to eat. I'm trying to tell my story, but nobody wants to listen. I am trying to do the same thing somebody else tried to do a long time ago. Bring peace to earth. I don't think I am Jesus. I am Victor. I am just following his same path.

Damn the ignorance in this world.

1:02pm  I had a good presentation after we ate with this guy I had seen yesterday. He had a peace sign on his hat. He listened to me wide-eyed. He's going to tell his friends, I'm sure.

1:04pm  I left the mission and I'm walking towards the school. I am stopping at the Silver City Museum. I'm going to look around here for a minute.

1:33pm  I'm at the school on a computer now.

5:14pm  I left the library with this friend Veronica I made at the library. She told me she has a little weed at home.

5:50pm  This girl Veronica. I noticed she was in the library before when I had gone. I wanted to tell her my story real bad. We came over to her house. I talked to her in front of the library when I got there today. She sat next to me on the computer in the library. Afterwards she invited me over to her house. And oh yeah, now we're smoking weed. Thanks. I appreciate it. Everybody gets credit.

7:56pm  Not only did Veronica make me a wonderful meal, she also gave me the last of her weed.

Veronica took a picture of me.

8:12pm  Something weird just happened. I had seen this girl Veronica twice before in the library. Today I saw her outside before I entered the library. She's kind of weird, though. It's hard to explain. A lot of times she doesn't make any sense. She has convinced herself that she knows me from somewhere else. On more than one occasion she asks me, "You don't remember this?" I would tell her, "No, that was not me. You have me confused with somebody else." She just keeps doing it. Then, when I got bored and told her I wanted to go back to the library to type my stuff up she gets all defensive. She says, "Oh, you just came over here to smoke and you won't even chill out now." So I got to thinking it was kind of late. Maybe I'd see if I could possibly crash there tonight. That's probably what I'm going to do. But I just excused myself. I'm going to go to the library and type up my stuff. She said I could go back. She lives on E Street. The #2 apartment at the end.

8:19pm  I walked all the way to the WNMU library. The library ended up being closed. That girl told me that it closed at ten. At first she said at eight. Oh yeah, I am glad I came out here anyway. I scored me a handful of snipes from the ashtrays. I had just run out of my American Spirits. Cool.

Next day..
