Southfork to Durango, CO

Wednesday September 1, 2004

6:30am  We came to the Comfort Inn. I'm supposed to do some work for him today. We had free breakfast. They gave us a wakeup call at six. We woke up and ate. I'm going to see if I can get some more sleep so I can rest my feet. They hurt. Man, the coolest stuff happens to me.

11:23am  We left the hotel. The Comfort Inn. We have to go to that real estate office. I don't know what's going on. We're supposed to go back to Denver later on. All the way back to Denver and then here and do some work.

1:45pm  Robert and I came and looked at some property and now we stopped at some river to smoke some weed.

2:22pm  I have to update you on my progress so far. Robert ended up having to wait a long time. Until like 3:15. We came back to this gas station and I told him, "You know what? I'm just going to stay here and see if I can get a ride to Durango from here. I'm only 103 miles away." He gave me a ride to the Shamrock on the end of town. Hopefully I can get a ride out of here before they run me out.

2:25pm  I went inside and asked permission. They told me, "I guess, as long as nobody complains." I told them, "One complaint and I'm gone." I told them, "I'm harmless."

2:43pm  This guy pulled up and I asked him if he was going to Durango. He told me he wasn't going that way. He told me he could get me to the next gas station, about a mile away. I tried to tell him my stuff and he turned his ears off quick. He cut in with, "Do you believe in God? Do you believe in Jesus?" I told him, "All I gotta call it is Love. Praise Love." He was all, "Oh no, Jesus is the only way," and he drove off.

Man, I'm so glad I was able to score a shower at the motel last night. I hadn't taken a shower in like a week or something. I need to do my laundry somewhere now.

3:04pm  I just took a picture. I'm over here at the Shamrock gas station. The foothills

are beautiful here. I took a picture of the sky and all the clouds.

                   I'm in Southfork, Colorado.

3:12pm  It's dead out here in Southfork, Colorado. Let me make my prayer to Love. "Love, grant me a ride, soon please. Please provide. I'm doing some good work. I'm doing the best I can."

3:22pm  Man, in no time. I went to the road and stuck my thumb out. This guy Ned pulled over, turned around and picked me up. He's taking me all the way to Durango. I appreciate it, brother.

                   Random picture out of car.

                   Another one.

3:34pm  We're at this big roadblock.

All these cars are stopped. They're doing construction or something ahead. I don't know. We're not moving anywhere.

Yet another picture out the car window.

     5:03pm  Pagosa Springs City Limits.

     5:13pm  58 miles to Durango.

5:48pm  We're in the town of Bayfield now.

     5:50pm  Eighteen miles to Durango.

We just passed Dry Creek and it is indeed dry.

     6:05pm  Entering Durango City Limits.

6:14pm  Me and Ned just got to Durango. We're downtown. He's going to buy me a beer. I appreciate it, brother.

6:45pm  I am in downtown Durango. I'm going to try and score some food at this Mexican restaurant downtown. I don't know if it'll work.

The Mexican restaurant was filled with a bunch of Babylonian white people. I said forget it. I'll keep walking.

6:59pm  These two kids won't listen to me. Ignorance is bliss.

This one guy let me get through the whole gasoline-for-the-stomach part.

7:30pm  I just had a good presentation with these girls in some spa shop. FDAH. They listened to me and gave me their email addresses.

7:54pm  I had a great presentation at the Subway. Even though they didn't hook me up. They told me, "Thanks for telling me your story." I told them the whole platform and everything.

7:55pm  I just talked to this one lady. I asked her, "Can I tell you a really interesting story, sister?" She goes, "No, no, no. And it's ma'am." I asked her if she's always been that ignorant and I just walked off.

8:00pm  I'm about to walk into the Dominos Pizza. Wish me luck.

Alfonso me esta dando gasolina para el estomago. Te lo agradezco, Alfonso. Todo el mundo recibe crédito, gracias.

8:49pm  I was talking to Raven, telling him my story and Luke comes up to us and asks us, "Do you guys want some ice cream?" I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

9:30pm  The guy at the Dominos hooked me up with a whole pizza. I thought, "Man, I can't eat a whole pizza." I came up and asked this kid at the creamery if he wanted a slice. I saw this street kid and talked to him. And he's going to show me a place to camp tonight!

And some other guy who I had talked to earlier, when I first got here with Ned, he had told me, "I'll listen to you. I'll listen to you." When the guy finally came out, I tried putting on my show and he cut me off real quick. He told me, "Nobody is going to work for free. It's against human-nature." He was all patting me on the back and told me, "Alright Victor, I'll see you later."

As long as he's talking about me. I don't care.

9:39pm  Skitz, the guy I met earlier, is showing me a place to camp. I appreciate it, brother. We're walking down 9th Street.

10:07pm  Skitz brought me up to some camp in the woods. It's awesome. It's perfect. It's real close by to town. I'm going to crash out. I am so glad I ran into him.

Next day..
