                                                                                                       rest area to Denton, TX

Friday September 21, 2007

7:50am  I woke up not too long ago in the back of their pickup which is hauling a trailer. They're delivering a motorcycle.

We pulled over at a rest area. I am meeting all these people and taking pictures of them too. I just went to the bathroom and took a shit. Now I'm wakin' and bakin'.

8:33am  I have to make an update. We left the rest area. They're dropping me off in Fort Worth. At the truck stop there. I hope they're traveler-friendly. Hell yeah, everybody is loving my World Peace Through Marijuana shirt. I'm passing out my website.

9:19am  Last night was awesome, dude. Right after they came out and told me I had to stop asking for money, when I wasn't, I was just trying to tell my story. Right after that I walk out and I see this beautiful girl sitting there. She saw my shirt and she freaked, saying, "Whoa, what's that?!" I smiled and told her, "I'll tell you if you listen." I put on a good presentation and then her boyfriend came out. They both listened to my story like crazy. I stood there and spat out my whole Odyssey and everything. They asked me where I was going and I told them North. He said, "Oh, we're going to Fort Worth." Hell yeah! I got me a ride! My prayers were answered. Thank you, Love. Thank you. Please Love, mobilize me again. I'll truckstop-hop all the way to New York, hehe.

9:24am  I just got run out of the Love's. The idiot manager came outside and told me, "Can I help you with something?" I said, "No, I'm not asking for money." He said that I couldn't be asking for rides either. I guess I'll just walk to the next gas station. It's pretty populated out here. It shouldn't be long until there's a gas station. I'm going to put my boots on now. They're made for walking.

9:29am  I'm about to take off walking. Oh yeah, the batteries are dead on my camera. I have to stop and charge them somewhere.

9:50am  I'm going to stop in the shade right in front of Risinger Road and take a smokebreak. I see a QT gas station down there at the next exit. I would take a picture, but my batteries are dead.

9:58am  I am up walking. Today's Day Number Three. Eighty three degrees.

10:17am  I just hit Evergreen Road, turning left to go to the QT.

Permission granted for asking for rides at the Quik Trip. Hell yeah. I'm going to ask if I can charge my batteries too.

The cool dude inside is letting me charge my batteries here and letting me stay for about an hour.

People have loved my shirt so far. People are driving by and giving me peace signs. I'm going to make it happen.

11:52am  In no-time, my magic shirt has prevailed again. Brandon, oh shit, I have to go get my batteries. Brandon is going to give me a ride a bit North.

12:05pm  Did I tell you I am on my way to Denton already? Brandon is hooking me up with a ride all the way there. I'm going to tell him my story and smoke him out. I appreciate it, brother. It's for a good cause.

12:53pm  I just got dropped off at the Denton Public Library. How perfect. Man, it was a straight shot. I totally manifested that.

2:11pm  I'm done on the computer. I came outside to smoke. I left my batteries charging inside. Oh yeah, guess what I just realized. I have my update on me. I don't have to call my mom and get her to send it to me from her computer. It's on one of my little hard drives. I couldn't do it here at the public library. Hopefully Emily will email me back or something.

3:10pm  I am leaving the library.

I asked some guy where downtown was. He told me to walk this way fifteen blocks. My camera is all charged up. I'll take a picture of the library.

3:49pm  I didn't tell you. I stopped in the shade of this little alley right here over on, I'm still walking on Locust Street. I'm going to take a smokebreak and rest here. When I get downtown I'm going to manifest me a cellphone and call Emily.

3:52pm  I'm all stoned and now I'm walking towards some park.  Random shot.

3:54pm  I'm walking by the Yoga Hutdentonyogahut.com Center for enlightened awareness. I need to go in there and tell somebody my story. I'll take a picture.

3:56pm  I knocked on the door, but nobody answered. I left one of my calling cards with my website. I'll email them.

                   Shot of downtown square.

4:26pm  I'm telling Luke my story in front of Jay and Jay's Pizza in Denton, Texas. I just took his picture.

Just told my story to Zoltan and Goth.

5:52pm  I just had an another awesome presentation with this girl riding a bike. She said just to tell her the important part and I did. I gave her my website.

5:56pm  I came in the coffee shop and the greedy ass cashier wouldn't let me slide for nine cents and Andrea was nice enough to give me a quarter. I appreciate it, Andrea. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

I didn't tell you, I'm walking to the highway. Screw Denton. I never heard from that Emily girl. I hope she doesn't get mad that I am giving up on Denton and leaving. I did  have some pretty good presentations though. Not that many. I rather be at a truck stop telling people my stories.

La Taqueria Internacional, open sign. I'm going to eat.

The door is locked and they wouldn't let me in. Ooh, there's a panaderia next door. I'm going to go hit them up.

6:43pm  Maria, al lado de la taqueria, en la panaderia me esta dando gasolina para mi estomago. Te lo agradezco, seƱora. Todo el mundo recibe credito, gracias.

Man, I got treated like royalty at that place. I got hooked up. I got a big bag full of food. I'm going to walk to the truckstop and eat. A mile away, I think they told me.

7:20pm  I need to make an entry. In no-time, what was your name?

"My name is Christopher Largen. I'm the youngest therapeutic user of cannabis on record." Man, you're going to love my story. "I started when I was two years old. I am internationally published as a journalist." You are exactly the guy I need to tell my story to.

Holy shit, a published journalist just picked me up and gave me a ride. He's pumping gas now. I asked him if he had seen the shirt and he said yeah, that's why he stopped.

8:01pm  Let me tell you about the chance occurrence that just happened. See, I didn't want to wait for Emily anymore. I kept calling her cellphone and she never answered. She was the only contact I had in Denton. I walked all the way to the highway from the square downtown. I went over to the onramp right in front of a gas station and stuck my thumb out. All of a sudden Christopher Largen pulls over for me. What do you do? Christopher: "I'm an author, screenwriter and film-maker." Give me some Google-bait, Chris. "Google-bait? Umm, waronjunk.com for my book about the drug war and myspace.com/waronjunk is where I do most of my blogging."

9:22pm  What a crazy ass night I have had. Christopher was going to take me all the way to Gainesville, but I changed my mind. It's getting dark and I want to find a place to crash. It's cool how I ran into him. Right when I was trying to leave. He brought me to the cool place in Denton. Fry Street. There's a lot of history in this town. He's been telling me lots of stories. Oh yeah, he gave me some movie I'm going to put on my website too.

12:05am  Screw this town. I'm going to walk towards the highway and try to find a place to crash. Christopher just disappeared from the coffee shop. I was just sitting there making little flyers with my website on it and he vanished. I made two sheet's worth. A hundred and thirty havethisbook.coms. I turn around and this guy is gone. He had said I'd be able to crash at his house, but fuck it. I'll find somewhere else. I always do.

Fry Street wasn't so impressive. A lot of ignorant alcoholics.

Next day..
