Yucaipa to Hemet to Beaumont, CA
Monday September 25, 2023
4:30am Let's see, last night. I am already up at the Fast Strip.
Last night I got tired of waiting so I walked not that far I found a little parking lot that had a building where I could sleep in the shade behind it. I woke up at like three thirty or so. I went to sleep around eleven so I got about four and a half hours of sleep. I am out here trying to get some spare change for a coffee refill.
5:47am I just made my way to the other side of the highway. I just realized there was an eastbound side with it's own gas station. It's really weird how there is a fine line between Calimesa and Yucaipa.
They are like right next to each other. I am all bummed out that I have no beanie to wear. It's cold. To keep my head warm I have to have the hood from my jacket on, which fucks with my peripheral vision. I came and was allowed to use the restroom at the gas station here. I let them know they were out of handsoap in the men's restroom. It's still a couple of hours until the sun comes up. I am going to try and thumb it on the onramp and get to Texas already.
6:28am The sun is up. I am a little chilly because I don't have a beanie. I can't have my magic shirt exposed if I have me jacket and hoody on. Umm, I need to get money together for a marker so I can make a sign that says TX.
7:57am See, I was going to ask where the nearest thrift store was in town, but finding one would probably suck me into Yucaipa some more. I came to the onramp and in no time Sherry pulled over for me! She asked me where I was going and I told her the next Walmart so my mom could transfer me money. I can get supplies. Thanks for the help, Sherri. Everybody gets credit, thanks for not ignoring me. Sherri is a child psychologist.
10:31am
9:51am I am at the Walmart in Hemet and plot thickens. There was a closer Walmart but Sherri wanted to keep hearing my story. I need a valid ID to get money. So I can't get any money from my mom. Screw it. That's not such a huge hurdle to jump. I have been doing without my mom's money for decades. I'll go fly my sign somewhere.
11:02am I didn't walk that far, but in the Walmart parking lot there is a US Bank! My bank in Modesto. I didn't know what I was going to do, maybe go fly my sign somewhere. I walked by the bank and thought, hell, it's worth a shot. I walked in and told a girl at a desk my situation. I told her I have an account with about $160 dollars in there, but I had left my ATM card and my SSI money with my wife, and that I had an expired ID. She first asked me how expired is it, and that they might be able to verify me with a security question. I was logged into the ap on my phone, so I'm sure that helped too. They let me! I got eighty bucks! I left forty in there for my wife. Sweet! I'm going back to Walmart and I am going to buy a sleeping bag!
1:28pm I got on the 44 bus, I think. I am going to transfer somewhere to go to Beaumont and get back in I10. I went in the thrift store and bought me a wig and a beanie.
I got a mummy sleeping bag at Walmart for $46.
2:15pm We just got to the transfer point and the nice driver is giving me a courtesy ride to Beaumont. I appreciate it. Everybody gets credit, thanks.
3:14pm I am in Beaumont!
8:34pm I just had this crazy good presentation with Yvette! This random girl. I don't knwo what street I am on. I am in Beaumont and this girl just out getting exercise and "praying." The sun came down and I was exhausted walking for miles down this street with all these country clubs, hoping to end up in some woods somewhere. I had been hanging out at the light close to the Carl's Jr, flying my sign and passing out my blog. When the sun came down I started walking in random directions and ended up on this long street with country clubs. Lot's of bushes with sprinklers I coulnd't camp in. I sat down in the grass under a light to rest and this girl walks by and I give her my usual line, can I tell you a really interesting story? She stopped and actually listened to me! I remained sitting in the grass and she stood and listened. I have never told my story like that before. She seemed really interested and I was happy to talk to her. I told her a lot. I should've told her the note from the rich. She got my blog. I still don't know where I am going to crash. I am walking down this endless road of country clubs.
