driving to Berkeley, CA

9:23am Victor and I and these two kids
that we're traveling with woke up in the most beautiful place. There's this
river. We didn't see it last night when we came in. The campground is closed. We
came here anyway. It's kind of sad because there's trash everywhere where the
campground used to be. It's a gorgeous river. We went to this part where it's
all still like a pond. There's like big rocks you can jump off of. We saw fish.
It's amazingly beautiful. Right now we're going to head down towards Ventura. We
might stop in San Francisco afterwards.
We just took the 128 W exit off of the 101 to drop Cloud and his cool dog Sutra
off. Now we're going to Berkeley.

12:04pm We are in Berkeley. We just drove
to Berkeley. We're on University Avenue. Let's see what happens.
3:42pm Cody's Books is now Halloween
Headquarters. What the fuck?! That's some crazy shit. That's just pathetic, man.
What's this world coming to? I guess Moe's Books is happy.
4:16pm I was walking down Telegraph and
Hippie Larry just hooked me up with a little weed. Telegraph is all sold out
now. I can't believe Cody's Books.
4:32pm Carol: "We're leaving Berkeley. I
went to People's Park with Victor and we went down Telegraph to Haste where
Cody's Bookstore used to be, but it's not there anymore. I've haven't been down
here since I was a little kid. I remember seeing pictures of the sixties and how
it was with all the hippies in the street. It's totally different now. So much
ignorance. It's sad to see that things have changed like this. Anyway, it just
breaks my heart to see it like this, because there was such a huge movement. We
walked by this wall with this huge mural on the side of Amoeba Records. Black
panthers and the hippie movement. People speaking out. Now people just don't
care. Down with Babylon."
