Ventura to Oxnard and back, CA
Thursday November 9, 2006
8:04am Dude, we woke up this morning and
we were told we were getting a
bigger tent.
The picture was taken weeks after we got to move into it, so it evolved a lot more. At first it was just the standard wall tent. Carol did the tarping. It's a friggin' house! I have to take a picture of it. We're moving into it today. I mean, when we first got here we got an eight person tent, but now we're getting a house! It's a badass tent. I have to take pictures.
9:10am I just had a great presentation here at River Haven. Charlene, right? And Debbie. Charlene just gave me a cigarette. I appreciate it, Charlene. And they both listened to my story beautifully.
1:22pm Let's see, we woke up this morning with condensation puddles everywhere. We came to Oxnard Shores to go look for this panel had seen by a dumpster. Carol wanted to use it for a headboard for the bed. We just found a badass rocker Lazy Boy. We're going to go see what else we can find. Oh yeah, we went and did laundry today. With Charlene.
6:07pm Just wanted to make a note. We are now sitting here basking in our big military command center tent. That's what these things are called.
6:37pm Larry at the smokeshop The Pipeline here in Ventura, he's outside waiting for it to open like me. I randomly asked him if he had any spare nails in his truck and hooked me up with a big strip of nailgun nails. I appreciate it. We need these to build stuff at home.
I came to the smokeshop with Armando. He wanted to buy some tobacco. It was cool, there was this other guy waiting outside with all these tools in his truck. Armando had the idea to ask him if he could spare any nails. He hooked us up with a big row of them and he hooked us up with a nugget of weed! He gave us some hangers too. Carol said we needed some hangers. We just went in the hardware store. What was it called? Perry Lumber. Armando went to talk to the manager and hit him up for free nails. I myself went inside and got free nails anyway, hehe. I grabbed a whole box. Hey alright, if I get by, it's-a mine. Mine 'ol mine. Go! Right now I'm walking to the pier. I need to get out more and walk. I need to stop smoking. I have get ready for my New Year's Resolution. Our homestead at River Haven has evolved drastically. At the end of the year I'm going to break up with Carol and be free. I can't wait.
3:41pm I walked all the way over to the fence where River Haven is. By the entrance. I just realized I had the car keys and Carol was supposed to come pick me up.
3:58pm Right now I am walking down Harbor Boulevard. Almost to Seaward. I'm giving everyone the peace sign as they drive by. Like I've been doing for years.
4:37pm Just walked to the pier. At the pier.
I'm talking to Steve right in front of the pier. I am waiting for Carol to come pick me up. He just hooked me up with a cigarette. I appreciate it, brother.
8:13pm I am telling Elena my story here at River Haven. She's a beautiful listener. What did you want to mention? Elena: "I was born in San Francisco in 1953." And she's adopted. Elena: "I didn't know I was adopted until I was thirty three. I still do not know my biological family. I may not ever." Biology does not make a parent.
Next day..
