Ocean Beach to Santa Ana, CA
Thursday December 4, 2008
6:00am I just woke up with 6.39 hours of sleep.
6:30am Up and at 'em. I'm walking into town. I stayed completely dry last night. The sprinklers didn't come on.
6:40am I paused and took a smokebreak at the Loma Point Gas Station. I bought a lighter, even though I was going to save that money for a pouch of Buglers. Luckily, I found some snipes and smoked them.
6:55am Just hit Newport Avenue. I'm going to make my deposit by the lifeguard station.
7:25am Sherri was nice enough to hook me up with three cigarettes. Thank you so much.
Shoulder kitty.
8:25am The library doesn't open until nine thirty, but I'm going to stand at the light and let traffic see my shirt. At first I had put on my Thank You for Pot Smoking shirt, because all my WPTMJ shirts are dirty. I'll do laundry when this one gets dirty.
10:39am I just came out of the library. I spent an hour on the computer.
11:07am Fred is being nice enough to give me a cigarette at the bus stop on Cable Street.
11:13am Let's see what the 35 driver tells me.
11:14am The nice 35 driver gave me a ride.
11:25am I'm at the Old Town trolley station. I have to catch the 101 bus.
12:25am I am UTC waiting for the 101. Watch me get another courtesy ride.
The nice people at Alejandro's is hooking me up.
12:51pm To kill time for the bus to come I walked around the block.
1:10pm Trey is the nice driver giving me a courtesy ride from UTC. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit.
1:35pm I just got to the Oceanside Transfer Terminal. I just found out that there's a bus that goes all the way to San Clemente! It's awesome how I can ride the bus all the way back to Santa Ana. The bus is #395.
2:37pm Carolyn was nice enough to give me a cigarette at the Oceanside Transfer Center. Everybody gets credit. Thanks a lot.
3:25pm I've been talking to Ronnie on the bus telling him my story. I'm telling him my stories while we wait for the bus. He's heard the whole Odyssey and even the Note From the Rich. Oh yeah, he gave me a cigarette. Thanks.
3:50pm Lonnie was nice enough to give me a cigarette at the Oceanside Transfer Center.
3:57pm Stacey was nice enough to volunteer me the rest of her pack of cigarettes because she's trying to quit.
4:04pm I am on the bus going to San Clemente. The nice driver gave me a courtesy ride. The nice lady from New York gave me a ride. Ronnie tried to pay for me when I asked but she said she'd let me on.
4:08pm I just got dropped off at the Carl's Jr. over by Trestle Beach! What a glorious ride I had over here. Three courtesy rides in a row! I even told one of the drivers my story while he was driving. When I went to sit down at the back of the bus the driver yelled, "The guy in the back. Come here." I walked to the front and all he asked me was, "Where are you coming from?" I told him San Antonio then the usual, "Can I tell you my story? Will conversation distract you?" He told me, "Sure, I'm okay." I told him the Note From the Rich and everything. I'm going to put on my leggings, my tights.
4:29pm Bill was nice enough to give me a cigarette at Newport Beach. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit.
4:58pm Leaving on the 57 going to Santa Ana. I'm going to get there tonight!
8:47pm I overshot Civic Center Street and I got off the bus to catch it going the other way. I got off over on Howell Avenue. I'm going to look for a gas station to buy some cigarettes. Oh yeah, earlier I asked Ronnie if he could spare a couple bucks for a pouch of Buglers(since he was willing to pay my busfare) and he gave me a couple gold dollar coins.
8:55pm I came to the ARCO by the bus stop at Katella Avenue, The ARCO/AM/PM. They're out of gas, but the store is still open inside. Tony let me get a pouch of Buglers thirty six cents short.
9:18pm The guy ignored me at the taqueria. I'm going to keep walking. I'm hungry.
9:53pm Juan en la Taqueria Guadalajara me esta dando comida. Te lo agradezco, Juan. Todo el mundor recibe credito, gracias.
Sweet, I was walking up to the Isaiah House and Nina was outside. She was waiting for David to come out. They were going to some party. I really missed David. I still have some trim left over from Ocean Beach.
10:52pm I got to Santa Ana and met David and Nina at the house and they were on their way to a friend's house. A party. Perfect timing. I met Pez and he kicked me a little nugget. Everybody gets credit, thanks.
2:17am I forgot everybody's names at the party, but it was pretty cool. Warm, actually, with the fire. They had a fire in the backyard and everything. I actually started to get bored, because I don't drink and no one was going to listen to my story. I tried, but didn't have much luck. Fucking alcohol. Anyway, we came back to the house and I just got shown my sleeping quarters. David has renovated the basement a bit. He's made a small room back here with cardboard boxes stacked up. He's going to let me do some typing tomorrow.
