Back when I lived over the Black Butte Saloon, one of my volunteer projects(which turned into a $400 gig) was to empty out all the Happy Company crap Mark Juarez(the owner) had in the tin roof storage room out back by the alley. He owns the nice hotel in Dunsmuir. He also owned the closed down Eagle's Nest Thrift store a couple addresses down so I used a dolly and transferred all the crap from the storage room to the thrift store, where a bunch of his other crap lived. He was impressed and gave me four hundred bucks in the end. Here's a shot after I had cleaned most of it out.
I fell in total love with Tamara, this beautiful lush who would go to Karaoke(she had a terrible voice). She lived right across Main Street from me, over a thrift store. After a year or so we had a really bad breakup, she broke my heart. Depressed, I finally went to the mountain. I lived in Weed two whole years without ever stepping foot on Mount Shasta(six miles away). I hadn't even been to the City Park.
I got a ride to Bunny Flats by some hippies from the park. When we got there I wandered around by myself sad and found a private spot behind some bushes to sleep. The next morning I introduced myself to all the hippies and got to work collecting firewood. By the time all the hippies woke up there was a huge bonfire going! They were pleased.
I even remember meeting Sky and Mau. I will elaborate more later.

Moved to Mount Shasta, CA where I lived luxuriously in an old 21 foot prison bus, it used to be, at the base of Black Butte in the woods. There would be deer in the morning sometimes. Wood stove and extension cords to a nearby shower house with 110v power.
Lived there so calmly for a year or so then the owner found and bought a full size motor coach and asked me if I wanted to live in it with no increase in rent, I just had to do all the labor removing the seats. In no time I had a total upgrade in my living in the woods at the base of Black Butte. I made sure it said San Antonio on the changeable sign. I had an unbalanced relationship(one of many) with Tracy, this deluded lap-band girl from New Zealand. $150/month rent at the bus. Forty feet away I had a shower house with toilet and sink, with power I could run to the bus with extension cords. Lots of pictures to come. I thought I had found my dream retirement home, but had to leave.
Lots of unorganized, random pictures from my magical time spent at the base of Black Butte. Living close to nature is excellent for your mental health!
