HEY, VICTOR,
PLEASE
EXCUSE THE ALL CAPS. IT'S THE ONLY WAY THIS KEYBOARD WILL WORK FOR THE
MOMENT, AS THERE WAS THIS INCIDENT WITH A GLASS OF WATER... BUT THAT'S
ANOTHER LONG STORY!
SO
YOU'RE CONCERNED ABOUT THE WEATHER. WELL, PANAMA HAS TWO SEASONS,
RAINY AND DRY. YOU CAN PICK THE TEMPERATURE THAT YOU LIKE BY FINDING
THE ELEVATION THAT MEETS YOUR PERSONAL NEEDS. IF HOT AND STEAMY IS UP
YOUR ALLEY THEN ANY OF THE BEACH CITIES WILL FILL THAT NEED. HOWEVER,
IF, LIKE ME, YOU PREFER COOLER TEMPS WITH LOTS LESS HUMIDITY, THEN THE
MOUNTAINS ARE FOR YOU. BOQUETE IS TOO HOT FOR ME BUT VOLCAN IS MID 70'S
IN THE DAY TIME ALL YEAR ROUND WITH NIGHTS IN THE LOW SIXTIES AND
BREEZES DAILY. AND AS FOR THE DIFFERENCE IN THE SEASONS, WELL IT EITHER
RAINS FOR AWHILE IN THE AFTERNOON MOST DAYS, OR IT DOESN'T RAIN
EVERYDAY. THE HOMES HERE HAVE NO HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING, JUST
WONDERFUL PORCHES. BEING CLOSE TO THE EQUATOR MEANS IT'S SMART TO USE A
LOT OF SUN SCREEN BUT IT DOESN'T SEEM TO AFFECT THE TEMPS AS MUCH AS
THE ELEVATION DOES. UP THE HILL FROM VOLCAN IS CERRO PUNTA, WERE I'M
TOLD IT EVEN GETS FROSTY AT TIMES. THAT'S JUST TOO COOL FOR ME AND I'M
SOOO SPOILED BY THIS AMAZING CLIMATE, IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL. ANOTHER
INTERESTING CHANGE IS THAT ALL YEAR ROUND THE SUN SETS BETWEEN 6;30 AND
7PM AND THEN COMES UP AT BETWEEN 6;30 AND 7AM AND THERE'S NO NEED FOR
THE 'DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME'.
LIFESTYLE
HERE IS PRETTY MUCH UP TO YOU. AMERICANS HAVE BEEN HERE FOR SO LONG
THAT IT WAS AN EASY TRANSITION FOR ME, BUT I CAME HERE FROM MIDDLE
TENNESSEE WHERE LIFE IS EASY AND SLOW SO THIS WAS PRETTY MUCH THE SAME.
HAD I MOVED HERE FROM CALIFORNIA, MY HOME STATE, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN
A BIG CHANGE. SO I WOULD SUGGEST YOU CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSELF. I DID A
LOT OF RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET BEFORE I CAME TO PANAMA AND I FOUND IT
TO BE BETTER THAN WHAT I HAD READ AND YET SOME FOLKS JUST CAN'T FIND
THEIR PLACE HERE. FOR ME IT'S WONDER FILLED AND IT FEELS LIKE HOME.
STILL HOPING TO MEET YOU,
BYLLEE

Hi Byllee, I know I've told Franklin otherwise, but I still am not sure about going to Panama. It's warming up in Texas right now and I can't even begin to imagine how hot it's going to be in Panama being so close to the equator. I don't know if he's explained to you my situation and how I had been walking and hitchhiking around the US with no money for seven years. I was free as a bird conducting a study on generosity that I thought could start a revolution. I think money is slavery and just a way to control people. Since last October I have been through this big depression and have stopped my mission altogether. Maybe I was delusional in thinking what I was doing could make such a difference. So I'm not in that good of a mental state to be throwing myself into such a challenge as to acclimating to a whole other lifestyle. I'll see what happens. Best wishes, - Victor Antonio

HI, UP THERE IN THE STATES,
YOUR
FATHER, FRANK, IS A FRIEND I VALUE VERY MUCH AND A BUSINESS ASSOCIATE
AS WELL. I'D LIKE TO MEET HIS SON. FROM WHAT LITTLE I'VE HEARD,
WE HAVE A FEW THINGS IN COMMON.
I
LEFT THE STATES TWO YEARS AGO AND HAVE FOUND PANAMA TO BE A BEAUTIFUL,
WELCOMING PLACE TO BE. I'LL SPEND THE REST OF MY LIFE IN THESE
WONDERFUL MOUNTAINS. NO, NOT CLIMBING, HIKING, OR HANGING IN A HAMMOCK,
BUT WALKING A WELL WORN PATH OR SITTING ON A ROCK ENJOYING THE AMAZING
VIEWS. THAT WILL KEEP ME HAPPY AND CONTENT. MY PLACE IN PANAMA IS
VOLCAN AND I'D LOVE TO SHOW IT TO YOU FROM THIS LITTLE PIECE OF HEAVEN.
WELL, IT'S NOT REALLY MINE BUT IT'S WHERE I LIVE FOR THE MOMENT.
COMING TO PANAMA IS THE BEST CHOICE I'VE MADE IN MANY YEARS FOR A TON OF
REASONS.
SO PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR LIST OF WHAT TO DO IN PANAMA.
HOPING TO MEET YOU SOON,
BYLLEE
