Sorry man, no Windows around here. What are you trying to send?

Make it a non-self-extracting ZIP file if you can. Or a TAR file. I'm

not on Windows, so I can't use anything that self extracts, and I don't

think I can use RAR either for that matter.

Thanks for keeping me in the loop though,

I have software that can fix the links automatically. Go ahead and send

it.

Also, you should send the zip file because if I find someone with

windows and want to take it to them, I've had some trouble with moving

executables from my computer to other people's, but I've never had any

trouble with Zip files. I also don't trust executables. You never know

what might happen to your email while it's going over the internet, you

know! I'd rather have a zip file just on principle. Besides, that

executable was like 5 MB in size. I have a modem at home, so it'll take

forever to download that, and I bet a lot of that is just the extra

crap that makes it self-extracting.

I'd appreciate it if you'd just send the Zip file, especially if all

that's wrong with it is that the links are broken. If I'm reading along

and I come to a bad link, I can see what it's trying to do and just go

open that file separately. If I could get the stuff at home, I could

even fix the links to be relative and send it back to you, so that

it'll work on any computer.

Also, the only people who I know with Windows are getting a Mac soon

anyway, and I don't think I'll have time to get down there and use it

before they replace it.

Are you sure you can't just send the Zip file?

Cool. Maybe I'll put it online for you. What sort of access to the

server do you need?

Let me read some of it tonight before I make up my mind. This is

probably exactly what we want on the server.

You already told me that. :)

I might. Let me see what I'm doing tonight.

In Unix, we have a program "sed" for "stream editor" which is capable

of some pretty amazing feats of search and replace. I should be able to

do them all automatically. We'll see.

Well, they probably look fine. I haven't seen 'em yet. Besides, people

aren't there for the visuals.

Yeah, I've looked some of it over. I'm willing to host it but there

will be some rules, basically, no file sharing that could get us into

trouble, because that would affect all of us on this server. I also

will have to talk it over with the other admin.

If you have the money for it, you might want to buy your own domain

name (I dunno, victortheliberator.com or something). If you're

interested in doing that, let me know and I can help you get that set

up, it'll probably cost $25 for a year, or less if you want something

lamer (victortheliberator.info, for example). Otherwise, we can set up

victor.storytotell.org or storytotell.org/~victor, whichever you

prefer.

I haven't fixed up the files yet, but it won't take very long to do

that.

Even better. :)

Cool. How much space are you planning on needing? Past a few hundred

meg I might have to talk to someone about it.

Ha ha ha ha haha! In bed. :)

Definitely.
