10-27

Before we left we took on the project of sanding and staining the deck in backyard.

We met at the headwaters on September 10, about ten in the morning.  It was love at first joke!  She was stopping to gift a crafter acquaintance she had made with some knitting needles, before she'd head South.  She was already late in returning due to the fire.  Our knitter friend's name is Adam, Cosmic-coffee guy, who was a regular at the spring and would gift people with hot coffee.  Adam introduced us.  I had her laughing right away and smiling.  I even remember the first joke I told her.  "Let me tell you about these new shoes I got.  I bought them from a drug dealer.  I don't know what he laced them with, but I've been tripping for days."
I introduced myself and told Elizabeth about my volunteer position at the spring.  Before she left Mount Shasta, since it was so hot she asked me, "Is there a river anywhere around here?  I don't know how you can stand the heat."  I smiled real big and told her, "I've got my swim trunks in my backpack right now."
Elizabeth happily and quickly replied, "Okay, sounds good.  I have errands to run downtown that will probably take me about an hour.  Can we meet there?"  From here on Elizabeth is relaying the sequence.

"Victor and Adam looked at each other.  Adam said, "Oh, good.  I need to go to Soul Connections anyway.  I can take Victor and we will meet you there."  I said okay and Victor gave me one of his water bearer cards with his number.
I took off and did my errands and it all took me a little more than an hour.  When I arrived at Soul Connections Victor and Adam weren't there.  I left and crossed the street and sat down at a bench  by the lookout where they have a telescope.

I guess Victor had forgotten because he was on the onramp trying to hitch a ride home.  After nobody picking him up he saw the city bus coming in the distance and he ran across the street and got on it.  I called him and reminded him I still wanted to meet up.  He told me, "You will see me soon."  He got off the bus and and in no-time he was walking up to the bench where  I was sitting!  Meanwhile, I went to the car and made space for Victor, who because he is so tall, I moved things around and cleared up the floor, moved the seat back to accommodate his height.  (I even wanted to put on a bra, but decided not to.)  I was amazed at how quickly Victor showed up.  He smiled big and got in the car.
At Jade Pond he asked me permission if he could tell me some short stories.  I was smitten.

Even though I was en route to return home, a nearby fire in Dunsmuir was raging and I5 was closed to traffic.  I decided to wait it out with Victor at his bus in the woods."

Victor:

Elizabeth and I fell in total love.  Since I am from San Antonio I would always fantasize about having a Mexican girlfriend and look what LOVE delivered to me!  Woohoo!

I will include more detail regarding our first weeks together, but only seven weeks after meeting at the spring I was visiting Mexico with my new love!  Here are most of the pictures from our trip to Mexico.  I will add captions eventually, enjoy!
