Berkeley to San Francisco, CA
Wednesday February 25, 2009
4:00am About ten minutes ago we got woken up with rain. Chip had a rain cover on his hammock, but he still got wet. Michael has all this weed with him so I asked him if he wanted to smoke a bowl.
6:18am I just woke up again. I got about seven hours of sleep.
Michael
woke up too and took a leak in the drain closeby. I guess he gets urinary anxiety because he had to wear my tarp around him while he urinated.
Lauren gave me two dollars for some donuts. I appreciate it, Lauren. Everybody gets credit.
I was real lazy packing up and leaving the storefront. The store doesn’t open until eleven, so I can take my time. Some of my stuff got damp last night, but I’m drying it off on the sidewalk.
Did I tell you all three of us decided to go to San Francisco today? Chip, Michael and me. Michael says he can cover me for train fare and Chip already took off on his bike and said he’d meet us on Shattuck. We’re on our way.
We walked to Shattuck and Chip eventually showed up. We’re getting on the train now. On our way to San Francisco.
1:32pm We just got off at Embarcadero.
1:39pm Plot thickens. We “overshot” our stop, thinking we could only pay a little bit and stay on the train, but when we tried to leave the station, we’d put our tickets in the gate and it rang “underpaid” and wouldn’t open the gate. We asked the employee and the lady actually told us to ask people for spare change so we could leave. So we are trapped and can’t leave. We should make camp somewhere. Hmm, maybe I’ll start passing out my website to a lot of people and start yelling at them when they ignore me, and maybe they’ll tell me to leave, hehe. Hmm, maybe I’ll just go out the emergency door.
Oh yeah, our trio split up. Everybody went their separate ways. Chip got back on the train with his bike heading back in the opposite direction, Michael went to pay his fare..and there weren’t any employees around and I saw some lady walk out the emergency door with no alarm going off..so I did too. I just walked out the emergency door right now.
I walked right up the stairs onto street-level with no incident. I stopped somewhere to smoke and then I saw Michael. He paid, sucker.
1:53pm Hamilton gave me a cigarette in front of E-Trade in Downtown San Francisco. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit, thanks a lot.
Haha! I just gave this stock broker guy who works at the E-Trade place my website. I logged his generosity and gave him my website! I told him it was all about what it said on the shirt. I am fearless. Right in the lion’s den.
2:52pm I should make an update by now. I broke free from Michael. I was told I was five miles away from Haight/Ashbury. I don’t need to go there today. Right here there are masses and masses of people. I need to find a spot and expose my shirt and pass out my website. I wandered in different directions
and have landed at Post and Stockton
in front of the plaza here.
I bought a cigarette off this dude for a quarter.
Random shot
Jamie gave me a cigarette on Post and Grant.
I had this awesome presentation with this one couple.
I didn’t get their names. I told them the important part and the Note From the Rich. They loved it.
I came to this long sidewalk in front of the 7-11. There’s another homebum closeby bumming change and I’m posted up giving out my website and asking people if they’ve always been that ignorant…when they ignore me.
Mary was nice enough to give me a cigarette in front of the 7-11.
Dude who listened to my story in front of the 7-11.
Mary listened to my story and even the Note From the Rich. She’s beautiful.
Umm, I think I’m going to go secure a place to sleep tonight. I don’t know where at all. Mark gave me a cigarette at the bus stop. I appreciate it, brother.
:26pm I got on the #5 bus, got a courtesy ride, as usual. We are already at Golden Gate Park. I hope I recognize something soon.
I got off the bus over by Safeway. I’m closer to the ocean now. Ocean Beach, I think.
