Gilroy to San Juan Bautista, CA

Tuesday March 17, 2009

6:20am  I woke up around six.

8:18am  Man, I am having one lazy ass morning. The sun is up and I've just been sitting here. I even managed a dry shave earlier. Back here at this little camp some homeless people have constructed this wooden frame to make a tent. My jumbo tarp would fit perfectly on it. It kind of makse me wish it would rain. Man, I'm so stoned. Camp

9:10am  All packed up and leaving. I took pictures.

9:39am  I walked over to the onramp. I had stopped at the Jumbo Jack and bought a burger and took a shit.

10:00am  Man, in like fifteen minutes after I came to the onramp James was nice enough to pull over for me. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

10:50am  James told me he was going to give me a ride only ten miles South, but first he had to attend some meeting for school. We drove to Gavilan College, which I had been told to visit at the park yesterday. We walked up to the building where the meeting was at and all these college kids saw my shirt and offered to smoke a brother out for the cause. We all came to this concealed spot and practiced that I preach. I took a picture.

Cast of characters. Stephanie, Steven, Hope and Andy.

11:12am  I just had an awesome presentation with GavTV. Ethan and Josh is the camera guy. They walked up to me with a camera and told me I looked interesting. I asked them if I could tell them my story and they offered to videotape it! I just told my story on camera.

                     Random college shot

11:28am  James had parked a bit away from the college campus in this neighborhood. I left my pack in the back of his truck and my frontpack in the cab. When I walked up to the building with all the kids and got smoked out, I left James. I didn't tell them my whole story because I was really hoping I wouldn't lose James because then I would lose my bags. He's the keymaster right now. I walked back to the civic center building and James was sitting in the same chair. We're walking
back to his truck. I was considering going back to the Garlic Farm truckstop I was at last night. I'm going to go to San Juan Bautista with James and see what happens there. Alright, peace.

We drove to James' friend's and smoked in the back yard.

3:54pm  I am having some difficulties with my recorder. James dropped me off about two miles away from the San Juan Bautista exit. I am walking the three miles to this town. I walked by the high school here. I am over here by the Earthbound Farm Organic. I stopped at these cement blocks to organize my shit and layer down. It's getting hot and I'm walking. It's a beautiful day today. I'm going to smoke a cigarette and smoke some weed. I am almost out of weed. That
sucks.

                   Rooster in a yard

I thought my batteries died and I was going to have to spare change for more. I switched out to some other ones I had and I am ready to go.

                   Walkingpasture

4:03pm  Leaving from my layering down break.

4:08pm  Walking in front of the Earthbound Farm Organic entrance. I took a picture.

4:26pm  Taking an impromptu rest in the shade. I walked the sight-distance until the road turned. I'm taking my time smoking.

4:39pm  I gave some Mexican dude walking my website at Prescott Road.

Walking by Mission San Juan Bautista. I took a picture.

I was walking around town, but none of the restaurants were open. I am out of food. I walked by Doña Esther's. Sweet, taqueria. I went inside and asked for the manager and the nice lady told me she was the manager. She was white, so I wondered if she would hook it up. I gave her my line and she quickly said, "Have a seat." Great! Welcome to San Juan Bautistia, San Antonio. The saints have each other's backs.

Wendy at Doña Esther's is being nice enough to feed the peace machine in San Juan.

5:16pm  I'm walking towards 101 on Alameda Street. I walked to the Windmill Market and this guy by his car saw me and started talking to me. I quickly offered him my website and told him it was about world peace through marijuana. I told him, "See, it says it on my shirt under my bag." He asks me, "How are you doing on smoke?" I told him it was the key to mission and I was all out. This dude went in his car and came back and just hooked me up with sooo much purple dank marijuana. I was sure to document it with a picture.

                   Welcome to History

That was so fucking sweet! I was all bummed out because I was out of weed. This dude just hooked me up with way more than thirty bucks worth of quality cannabis.

I started walking on the highway and two Gilroy cops pulled over real quick. I told them I was a long-distance walker, a journalist. They were cool, I guess. When they walked up they told me stand by their car and put my hands behind my head with my fingers interlocked. Then one of them proceeded to pat me down. I swear this cop was getting off on patting me down. He was practically massaging every inch of my chest and thoroughly feeling around. This pig didn't even look in my pockets and he was giving me this elaborate pat-down while his partner watched. Lucky for me, they might not have let me keep that dank weed I just got blessed with. They said I had to walk back into San Juan Bautista. They just let me go.

7:39pm  I came to the main street in San Juan and noticed everyone at the bars was costumed for Saint Patrick's Day. That was my cue to put on my green tights. I was hanging out in front of some bar and met this couple, Elena and Ray. I talked to them a little and they directed me to a squat house I can crash in. It's like some museum presentation house they said. They said I could just walk in and go to sleep. Awesome. I'll go there now. It'll be good for my story. It's close to the corner of Monterey and Third.

I should make an update already. I was walking around the main street in front of all those bars not talking to too many people since they were all drinking. When I decided to leave I was walking away and I met Elena and Ray. I told them my story and they told me about a squat house. I am already here. I found it easy. It's a replica cabin. Perfect. I'll take pictures if they'll come out right now.  Bench outside

I never told you, the day before I left San Jose. See, remember how I had been wanting to run into the 202 crew again and maybe hang out at the apartment again? Well, Olivia's boyfriend noticed how much she had been moved by my story and was convinced she was going to run away with me. There seemed to be a jealousy-factor involved. That's alright though. I'll keep going. Olivia is only human, after all. Haha, I am inspiring people left and right.

It's so awesome how I scored me a little squat house here. A little cabin.

Next day..
