San Juan Bautista to Gilroy to Hollister, CA

Wednesday March 18, 2009

6:29am  I've had a good morning. I woke up in my little cottage. I took some pictures and packed up my stuff. Well, I just moved it right outside by the concrete bench outside. I smoked and waked and baked. I have a lot of weed still.

7:02am  I walked up to the Windmill Market and took a shit in their restroom. I'm going to manifest some food somehow. Please Love, feed my belly.

7:42am  Sergio hooked me up with some change for breakfast. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

Joe hooked me up with some change for breakfast.

7:50am  Henry was nice enough to give me some quality snacks. He's driving the Tom's snacks van. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit.

8:57am  Maybe like forty five minutes ago, this guy talked to me. He remarked I was carrying a lot of stuff. I told him it was weight-training. I didn't tell him my story or anything. I told him I was Victor Antonio from San Antonio. I asked him if he was going South and he said yeah. He said, "Do you want to go to Salinas?" I said sure, are you going there? He said he could, but he had to go deliver some water real quick and he would be right back. Let's see. Talk is cheap.

9:18am  Some magic happened. Beautiful Rebecca Stone from San Juan Bautista, she's giving me a ride back to Gilroy. Rebecca: "How old are you Victor Antonio from San Antonio?" I'm thirty one, but age is just a number. You can grow young too. I appreciate it, Rebecca. Everybody gets credit.

9:39am  Oh man, Love sent me this most beautiful redheaded mermaid Rebecca. She rescued me from San Juan. It was dead. This beautiful girl, when she dropped me off she told me I inspired her. After I got all my stuff out of her car and said goodbye Rebecca ran out of her car and gave me a ten dollar bill. She told me to use it on food and I blew her a big kiss. Thank you, Love. Rebecca dropped me off back at the Garlic Farm truckstop where I was at the other day.

10:28am  I walked back to the onramp where I scored that ride to Galivan College yesterday where James picked me up and took me to the college.

I'm going to try and get a ride to Salinas, at least.

10:35am  I just got run off the onramp by a state trooper. He said I had to stand behind the freeway entrance sign.

I got bored asking for rides. I'm going to go back to the onramp.

12:15pm  I came to the onramp, the cop ran me off. He roadblocked me and made me stay behind the freeway entrance sign, where I couldn't thumb the people from the stoplight.

Oh yeah, earlier at the Garlic Farm store I asked to borrow scissors to cut out havethisbook.coms. I had run out. Nobody had any scissors I could borrow. I lost my little blue Fiskars. They nice Middle Eastern guy told me all he had was a razor blade. I cut out this lattice of havethisbook.coms and tore them off by hand. I went outside and traced out the flyers with the razor. Whatever works. I took pictures. I counted them in the end and I had thirty nine.

5:35pm  Sweet, I just asked this guy if he was going North at the truckstop here and he said no. Then he tells me, "Hey, man. Didn't I see you in Santa Barbara a while ago? You tried to tell me some story and you gave me a little piece of paper or something."

6:28pm  Tom Jay just hooked me up with some food. Thanks for feeding the peace machine.

6:58pm  I got bored at the Garlic Farm. I decided to walk into Gilroy. I've got a lot of purple weed to smoke and I am smoking it all by myself. I'm going to go share and tell my story in town again.

7:23pm  I walked Monterey Avenue all the way to 10th Street. I'm going to go hit up a taqueria up.

                   "Manager's not there."

7:44pm  I walked all the way to the transit center and I am getting a courtesy ride to Hollister, I decided. A little bit South. I got tired at the Garlic Farm. Hollister is a little East, but I can keep going South back to 101.

8:13pm  I just got dropped off in Hollister, CA. Fourth Street, downtown.

I got to tell this guy my story on the bus. Everytime I asked him if he was willing to listen he would say, "Keep going, keep going. I'm listening."

La Villa de Jerez. Let's see what they tell me.

Welcome to Hollister. I got a big burrito, sweet. I'm going to try and find a place to camp. The Babylon is thick around here.

8:31pm  I already found my camp. I'm going to crash in this field behind some neighborhood. When I got to the field I hiked around in the tall grass looking for a bare spot to throw my poncho on. None were forthcoming. I hiked all the way to the neighborhood fence and doubted there was a concealed spot in the trail that ran behind the fence. Luckily I found this big tractor part and the trail that went around it was the perfect size to camp in. I'll be sure to take pictures in the morning.

Next day..
