Socorro to Albuquerque, NM

Monday July 18, 2005

     6:48am  I just woke up.

7:14am  I have to make an update. Maggie showed up and we're on our way to Albuquerque. We stopped at the Chevron right now. That's so cool that I'm going to Albuquerque. I got my stuff packed up real quick. I even brought my boots.

And Kareem hooked me up with a nugget. Perfect.

8:20am  Victor is in Albuquerque. Maggie just dropped me off. I told her a couple stories on the way up here.

8:33am  I had a pretty good productive presentation right when I got dropped off. Over on Edith and Central. I'm really glad I picked up this rope on the side of the highway a while back. I stuffed it in my bag convinced I could make use of it somehow. That's what I used to strap my boots to my backpack. It's perfect. I'm going downtown. Center Street.

8:42am  David was walking down Central and he stopped and let me roll a cigarette. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

8:47am  I just took a picture of this big mural on this wall.

9:03am  I am finally going to go to the Greyhound station.

9:07am  I ended up at the bus station. They're filming some movie here. Three Wise Guys. They don't need any more extras.

9:18am  I found a little corner at the Greyhound station and I smoked some weed. I'm going to try and tell my story to people waiting outside.

9:27am  I told Victor my story at the Greyhound station and he gave me a cigarette. I appreciate it. Good name.

9:47am  Travis hooked me up with a cigarette at the Greyhound station. I appreciate it, brother.

10:05am  I'm telling Greg my story in this little plaza they have here. What was your email? epopgerg@yahoo.com

10:31am  After I told my story to Greg he hooked me up with his pouch of tobacco. I appreciate it, brother.

He told me he had found it. It wasn't his to keep.

Free food at 34th and Iron, Good Shepherd. At noon the Methodist Church down the street.

11:11am  I walked up the little plaza here and there's a kid who makes all these bracelets with people's names on them. I just told him my story and he's going to hook me up with a bracelet for the cause. I appreciate it, brother. He's going to make me a rainbow Victor bracelet.

11:19am  I'm having some good presentations this morning. I had a couple at the Greyhound station. I walked over to the plaza and this old man complimented my Relax I'm a Professional shirt. I hit him up for my story and he listened to my whole odyssey even, this old man. Then I told these two kids walking by my story and they listened to it too.

11:40am  I'm heading to the church now. Most of the homeless people here are way ignorant. This one guy started listening to me at first.

Oh yeah, I went back to Victor, the guy who makes bracelets and he had already finished mine. It's badass. I'm going to walk to the church now. They feed at noon.

12:00pm  I forgot to tell you I'm at the church waiting to eat.

12:22pm  Steve hooked me up with his peaches at lunch. I appreciate it, Steve.

12:36pm  I just got out of lunch.

That preacher this morning at breakfast said, "Don't ever get tired of doing good." That's exactly it. I just don't get tired of telling people my story.

1:39pm  I am telling Anna my story at the little plaza here. What was your email? awilliams@frontierenergy.com

Anna, who's letting me tell her my story just volunteered me a cigarette. Anna is from the East Coast. She let me tell her my whole odyssey and everything and I gave her a CD. She told me good luck in the end.

2:14pm  I'm walking down to the Shepherd, this other feeding. I had some good presentations after I ate. I'm playing around with an idea. Someone told me a shelter here will give me a bed for like seven days. Maybe I'll stick around in Albuquerque and tell my stories in the plaza.

Ahh, tonight I'll just ask for spare change "to get out of this hell-hole." Like last year(7-24-04, 6:48pm). I'm walking to this Shepherd's place. They feed at 3:30.

3:22pm  I am in line at Shepherd's. This guy just walked up to me, I don't know if I've told him my story before, but he just handed me a spliff.

4:33pm  I'm telling Jason and his friend Bard my story here in the plaza. Email? tigersanddragons@yahoo.com

5:26pm  Daniel hooked me up with some change for my bus ticket. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

5:32pm  Dillon hooked me up with some change so I can get out of this hell-hole. I appreciate it, brother.

5:43pm  John in the plaza hooked me up with some change for my bus ticket.

5:48pm  Monica, at the Business Weekly hooked me up with some change for my bus ticket.

5:52pm  Manuel hooked me up with the rest of the change I needed. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit.

5:57pm  I have my change for Santa Fe. Turns out a city bus goes out there for only two dollars. I'm going to get out of here. I'm going to go to the bathroom and take a shit first.

6:15pm  What was your email Jose Mares? wizzardtr2dope@yahoo.com

6:19pm  Martin is giving me a cigarette.

6:24pm  That sucks. While I was taking a shit in the bathroom the last bus to Santa Fe came. Oh well.

     7:09pm  I'm talking to Catherine. catherine@idex.org

7:24pm  Zack, at the coffee shop gave me some change for my bus ticket. I appreciate it, brother.

Sweet, he gave me a cigarette also, awesome.

7:26pm  Badass, Zack is going to smoke a brother out!

Ooh, I have to make an update. I went and told my story to all these kids at the coffee shop. I had a very captive audience.

8:22pm  I just got dropped off by the Greyhound station. I went for a cruise around with Zack and he smoked me out hardcore. Hmm, I wonder where I'm going to crash tonight. Zack hooked me up with a salad too.

Oh yeah, and earlier some guy came up to me and asked me, "Hey man, what's your mission?" I hadn't even talked to him and he came up and asked me that.

8:32pm  I just walked to the plaza. I'm going to sit down and eat this salad. I also got kicked down with a nugget.

8:58pm  Just had me a great presentation. I don't know where I'm going to sleep tonight. I'm going to walk around and tell people my story. Maybe I'll just stay up all night.

I just had a really ignorant encounter in the plaza. During my story this kid stopped me and said, "Okay, I've had enough." I don't know where I'm going to crash. I'm going to keep telling people my story.

9:55pm  Katie just volunteered me a dollar after listening to my story. I appreciate it, Katie.

9:58pm  This guy is giving me a destination. Guy, "Come to Kansas City, Westport area, Main Street and Broadway. Ask for Andy and Seth."

10:01pm  I forgot to mention. I had me an awesome ten-person audience at the coffee shop. It was awesome. This one guy gave me a dollar afterwards.

10:27pm  I was telling some guy my story and Shaggy walked up. He's going to show me a place to squat, so I don't have to go to the Greyhound station and sleep in a chair. He said it's on top of a church.

11:07pm  I have a magical update to make. I already have a place to crash in Albuquerque. I've been telling my story like crazy tonight. This guy Shaggy walked up. He's an Albuquerque squatter and he knows where all the squats are. He showed me this badass squat on top of this church. It's a bitch to get up here, but well worth it. I have a place to stay in Albuquerque. I can even stash my bag here.

Next day..
