Denver to Boulder, CO

Wednesday August 3, 2005

7:29am  Anna and I woke up in the little room. She told me she hasn't had such a good night's sleep in a long time.

8:17am  I helped Anna a lot. She was in a wheelchair. I told her I was always glad to be of service. I was glad to help her. I'm not San Antonio for nothing. We came to McDonald's and I'm going to go buy her some coffee.

9:03am  Anna just hooked me up with a cigarette. I appreciate it, Anna.

9:07am  Haha, I was standing in front of the check cashing place asking people spare change for world peace. I asked this one guy and he said, "If you get me off I'll give you five bucks."

Anna even gave me a quarter. I appreciate it, Anna. Everybody gets credit.

9:31am  Nathan walked by and gave me a cigarette in the mall. I appreciate it, brother.

9:36am  Neil gave me some change for my bus ticket. Thanks a lot.

9:51am  Nathan hooked me up with a second cigarette. What was your email, brother? undicided@yahoo.com

10:44am  Sohum hooked me up with a dollar for my busfare. I appreciate it, brother.

10:51am  I'm going to go to Boulder. I have busfare.

10:55am  The greedy asses at the Subway told me no.

11:16am  I'm riding the Free Mall Ride and we just passed by all these protesters protesting some low wages or something. The bus stopped in front of them and the door opened and someone got out. Right next to the door was one of the protester guys and I yelled, "Talk is cheap!" right before the door closed.

11:26am  I'm at Market Station. The bus to Boulder comes at 11:32.

11:32am  I'm on the Boulder-bound bus. About to take off.

I'm going to Boulder to wait for Theresa. Not Denver. Fuck Denver.

Oh yeah, the lady Anna who crashed with me last night. She's fifty seven. She was cool.

     12:33pm  Boulder. Back in Boulder.

12:42pm  I forgot to tell you. I'm on Pearl Street Mall asking people spare change for world peace. I'm hungry. I guess I'm alright. Anna gave me a Power Bar this morning for breakfast.

1:05pm  Aaron is hooking me up with a cigarette in front of the courthouse. I appreciate it, brother.

My thing has evolved a little more. I'm really making people think now. After I ask people for spare change for world peace and they keep walking I say, "Man, nobody wants world peace. If you're not part of the cure, you're part of the disease!"

I'm not getting anything by asking people for spare change for world peace. I'm not doing this for money. I'm doing it to make people think. My job.

This one guy got all pissed off at me when I tried to tell him my story and he walked away. He said, "I'm not ignorant." I said, "Then why are you walking away? Don't you know what ignorant means?" He got mad and said, "Do you know me? Do you know me?" I said, "The only thing I know is that you're ignoring me and walking away. That's all I need, to call you ignorant."

2:53pm  I'm still sitting here asking for spare change for world peace, making them think. Christian walked up and told me he saw me in Santa Fe and Denver.

3:23pm  I'm talking to Niles and Sandy. What was your email? maemrick@yahoo.com

That dude I met told me he met me in Santa Fe and he hooked me up with a marker. He even gave me a peace of cardboard to write on. I made my On My Way To Save The World sign. Oh, and these guys went by doing a story on something. They even took a picture of me. I told them, "Thanks for documenting me."

Cody and Matt stopped to talk to me. What was your email? matttronn@yahoo.com wwoof.org

3:58pm  Ali just volunteered me a dollar after seeing me sign. I appreciate it, Ali. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

This one girl saw me and said, "Oh, it's you again." I told her, "I'm everywhere."

4:07pm  Bob just walked by and he gave me a cigarette. I appreciate it, Bob.

4:57pm  Lara walked by and read my sign and she's going to give me some change. I appreciate Lara. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

5:04pm  I'm talking to Laura and her friend Rebecca. What was your email, Lara? larahamburger@yahoo.com

5:31pm  I'm standing in front of Fresh something Sportswear next to Art Workshop, the place with all the T-shirts. Just standing here letting people read my sign. The dumbass owner of the t-shirt shop comes out and tells me, "You can't do that here." I told him, "Do what? I'm just standing here with my sign. I'm not even asking for money." He said I could do it somewhere else, but not in front of his store. I told him, "Call the cops." He said he would and walked inside. Complaining won't do shit.

It'll be showtime when the cops get here.

5:59pm  This lady cop finally came, but guess what, I just went and stood at the end of the thing, still right in front of his shop. I'm more in front of his store than I was before. She said I couldn't stand in the corridor as people walk by.

6:03pm  Antonio, from New York, hooked me up with a cigarette. I appreciate it, brother.

He wants to make an entry. What's going on Antonio? "My name is Antonio and I've been walking the streets and living on the streets since I was thirteen. You just live the streets and learn your life and do what you got to do. And that's all that. Thanks, bye. Peace out."

Oh yeah, that owner of the store came out and I yelled at him, "Tough guy, big man, do what you can!"

6:10pm  This guy carrying a guitar came up to me and told me, "So you're going to save the world?" I gave him my platform. He said, "I've seen you out here and I've been dying to talk to you."

6:40pm  Spider just volunteered me some change. I didn't even ask. I appreciate it.

7:29pm  I'm talking to Olympia here in the mall. What was your email? novocainlolipops@aol.com

8:05pm  I ran into Sean, that I have to look up. I met him at the Greyhound station right before I went to the Rainbow Gathering in what, 2003?

8:35pm  Rosey is being nice enough to give me a cigarette. I appreciate it, Rosey. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

8:47pm  I just had a magical presentation right now after I got stoned. I was like attracting a crowd and everything. At first this kid told me he'd give me five minutes. I went so much longer than that and he shook my hand in the end and thanked me for telling him my story.

9:35pm  I just spent like a whole half hour in the bathroom cleaning my rain poncho. It was all dirty on both sides. I went in there and filled the sink up with water and with toilet paper cleaned my poncho.

10:15pm  I am starting to walk back to my spot at the Flowerama.

10:38pm  Hmm, I just walked in a big circle. I'm back on Pearl Street again.

Turning left on 28th. Hopefully I can score some food at the gas station across the street. Hopefully that black guy is working.

10:50pm  I got here like five minutes ago, my squat at the Flowerama. Nobody cool was working at the gas station. I bought two cookies for a dollar and change I had. And that girl Spider earlier, she had just come up to me and told me, "Do you take donations?"

11:13pm  Christian gave me a cigarette. I'm walking down Valmont.

11:38pm  Time for an update. At the Conoco I bought two cookies and smoked a couple snipes that were in the ashtray. I look across the street and see a state trooper in the parking lot of the Flowerama. I thought, "Damn, I'm not going to get back there without him seeing me." I started walking West on Valmont and I ran into this guy Christian who gave me a cigarette. I hit him up for my story and he listened. I didn't tell him the odyssey or anything. When I was finished I looked and the cop was gone. Whew, close.

Next day..
