Brewster to Moses Lake, WA
Friday August 28, 2009
6:07am I woke up about five minutes ago. Last night I wandered around the big lake at the park and found some woods to crash in near an orchard by the river. I'm going to pack up and leave and get out of here.
7:40am I paused at Henson Avenue and 4th Street and sat down and scraped a resin hit. This lady walked by me and smiled and I gave her my website.
8:39am Oh yeah, I realized I left my new Washington map where I camped last night. I walked to Main Street and got some ice in my bag at the Shell station. I walked to the park. I was aiming for Bridgeport, nine miles away. Oh yeah, I walked by Tammy's place again to see if she was out there. She told me to stop by before I left here. I walked by her house and stopped to layer down, to take off one of my shirts. I was out there and I see Roberta, this other tweaker I met last night. Oh, I never mentioned last night I came and hung out on the bench of Main Street and 6th Avenue. I talked to this one dude and told him my story. That's when Tammy had driven by, while I was talking to him.
Anyway, I saw Roberta who got snuck into Tammy's house last night, because her husband couldn't find out. Tammy came out and she had to go to work. I asked her if there was any way she could help me get a dimebag. Roberta told me to walk with her and that she would go and get it. She assured me she wouldn't burn me and I just had a feeling I could trust her. If she can't get it then I'll go walk by those Mexican guys' house. They were all cool with me. They took my picture and gave me that triple-x large white t-shirt so I could use it for a towel. Anyway, I'm waiting for Roberta to come back with my weed if she got it or not.
9:36am That girl's name is Roberta, the toothless one from last night. She told me that today it was going to be packed. I walked up here with her from Tammy's and we've been talking at this bench. She tells me this place is going to be packed tonight. All the Mexicans get off of work at three 'o clock. They said I would get whatever I wanted.
I left Roberta at the bus bench watching my bags while I hike back to the park and get my Washington map I left this morning.
12:07pm I came back and am still hanging out at the bench with Roberta. I finished reading that Don Juan book The Power of Silence. I still didn't understand most of it. I should read it again. I'm going to leave it at the bench because the spine of it is broken. I started reading How To Stay Alive in the Woods by Bradford Angier.
1:00pm La gente amable en [couldn't understand the name on my recording] me estan dando comida. Muchisimas gracias.
Sweet, right as I started walking towards Bridge Street I see a taqueria and sure enough they hooked me up.
1:36pm That was awesome, I walked up to Bridge Street and I stopped by the bridge and thumbed a ride in less than five minutes! I still haven't eaten my taco. I thought I was going to hang out in Brewster for another day and score some weed, but it wasn't forthcoming and this town is dead. I walked to Bridge Street and bam I get a ride in no-time.
2:15pm Whoa, I got dropped off at this gas station and in no-time, like the first person I asked for a ride, Dawn, what are you hauling? She's empty. She's driving a truck and she's giving me a ride. I thought I was going to go East to 2, by I'm going South a little bit to I90 instead. She's going to Moses Lake. If you don't make plans you never get let down! It's great to be free!

3:55pm I am in Moses Lake! Hell yeah, Dawn was awesome. She listened to my entire Odyssey. Note from the Rich and everything. She listened great. She just gave me some food, some snacks. She dropped me off at Ernie's Truck Stop.

4:20pm Look what time it is! I got dropped off at the truckstop and I spied another gas station nearby with a Subway. Maybe I'd go hit them up with my gasoline for the stomach line. I thought I'd go hang out there and show people my shirt. Before I even walked to the front of the store these two Mexican brothers pulled up and walked out. I asked them if they were going to Spokane. They told me no, but I was sure to give them my website. I told this one dude it was all about what it says on my shirt. He read it and smiled. I asked him if he knew where to get any. He said, "Yeah, let's go talk to my friend pumping the gas. Oh yeah, and we were all talking Spanish. Hehe, I'm all stoned. Anyway, I am having a great presentation right now. I threw my pack in the back of their truck and we drove and got the weed and then drove to this cool place to smoke weed. I'm going to keep going.
Get Your Blaze On the name of the song. Mr. Criminal.
5:36pm I am here in front of the Conoco/Subway. This girl smiled at me so I offered her my website and she told me no thanks. I was just testing her anyway. I hope she read my website when I briskly turned around and walked away from her.
6:15pm I didn't tell you, I came to the stoplight here. I'm getting so much publicity out here. I wrote out a sign that says SPOKANE. I'm not thumbing. I'm just holding my sign and giving every single car the peace sign. Everybody waves back.
It's so fucking awesome that the minute I got teleported into Moses Lake these two cool Mexican dudes drove to their dealers and scored a twenty sack. I gave them ten dollars for half of it. I still have five dollars left after all the money I spent. I got me some marijuana, the second I got into town. I am so glad I held onto that money. I am glad I left Brewster.
7:56pm I gave up on the onramp. I walked to the actual onramp. Before I was at the stoplight with my SPOKANE sign. I walked to the onramp and got bored of it. I'm walking back to the gas station, to the truck stop.
Kids in car giving me peace sign
8:33pm Kim just volunteered me some money. I appreciate it, Kim. Everybody gets credit.
8:35pm What a beautiful girl, Kim. She volunteered me three bucks and some change, awesome. I gave her my website and a big hug. She's from Texas too.
My display
1:26am I crashed out in the field behind the water tower. I woke up a little bit before one at about 12:45 or 12:40 because it started drizzling. Actually, I woke up right before it started drizzling. I woke up and thought it weird because I had only gotten three or four hours of sleep. I was able to cover myself up with my tarp in these bushes.
