                                                                                                     Albert Lea to Rochester, MN

Friday October 12, 2007

6:37am  I woke up around five this morning. I'm already packed up and my stuff is loaded in Troy's car and everything. We're going to go to Rochester today.

6:44am  We're taking off. Troy is taking off to school. What are you taking in school? He's an electrician. Unions school.

6:50am  We stopped at the Quik Trip and Troy got some coffee.

8:05am  Troy dropped me off at the Quik Trip in Rochester. Cathy would've given me a ride out of here if I was leaving. It's the thought that counts, thanks anyway.

She gave me an orange for lunch. I appreciate it, Cathy. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

8:08am  I am leaving the QT. I'm walking to Rochester. I've had a good morning so far. I'm all layered up. I've got exactly what I need.

The QT over by the Lowe's and Target and McDonald's and stuff.

Rochester is one of the biggest towns in Minnesota. A hundred thousand. It's not that big at all.

It's like less than a tenth of San Antonio. Less than a fifth of San Antonio.

8:28am  Holy shit! I saw a bald eagle! I took a picture of it.

That was awesome! See, I started cutting through the field behind the QT. Then I realized there was a fence all around it. I spotted some construction workers down there. I figured there would be an outlet out over there. Then I saw them jumping the fence too. I threw my bag over and jumped over myself. Right when I started walking close to this telephone pole, through my peripheral vision I see a big ass bird land on top of it. Oh shit! That's a bald eagle! I grabbed my camera real quick. I took two pictures of it. One of right after it landed and one of it flying off.

9:03am  I'm walking and I'm crossing 25th Street. Over by a Walmart. I'm walking 63, the frontage road.

9:11am  Stopping at 20th Street. Well, not stopping, but waiting for a red light. I'm going to cross.

I just passed 16th Street and I took a picture of the corn water tower.

I had taken another picture earlier, but I should have held off now that I'm getting closer to it. I'll take a picture of the tall buildings when I get there.

9:24am  I'm going to sit down and eat this orange and rest my shoulders and smoke.

That lady at the QT who gave me this orange would've totally given me a ride. She was going to North Dakota or something. She volunteered too. She came out and talked to me again.

9:42am  I had a nice little smokebreak underneath these trees on some short brick wall. I smoked some marijuana too. Man, Troy filled up my little bottle! Actually, it's all packed down with my one hitter. It was all full before I packed it down. He gave me the last of his sack for cleaning his house. I had meant tell him, "My mother always told me that cleanliness was next to godliness," but I never did. Well, she never did. It would've been something cool to say.

Troy's my pal, man. I gave him a hug. I took a picture of us at the end at the QT when he dropped me off.

That was awesome how I saw that bald eagle earlier!

9:52am  I just crossed 12th Street in Rochester, MN. "The best place to live in America." Money Magazine. Rated top 93-97. I'm going to walk on this sidewalk right here going along this fence next to the golf course.

I saw a Mexican restaurant but it's not open yet. I'm going to keep walking into town. Cool, big buildings. I'm going to take a picture or two.

I'm walking down South Broadway now.

10:06am  I just took a couple pictures of myself in front of China Dynasty restaurant. I look like a homeless guy, hehe. Like I say, I'm working undercover. I've been giving cars the peace sign all the way down the street.

                     I walked by Rico Mex.

This taqueria that is an old Wendy's building. It looks all fast-food. They're hooking me up at Rico Mex. I appreciate it, guys.

10:12am  Alejandro Sepulveda y Concepcion Sintero en Rico Mex me estan dando comida. Les voy a tomar una foto.

They gave me a badass breakfast burrito! It was huge!.

     10:32am  I am at 2nd Street, downtown.

10:33am  I crossed the street on 2nd Street just because I thought I saw trees. I thought there'd be a park. All of a sudden I see a sign that says Rochester Public Library. Cool! Email.

10:41am  I had a good little smoking session and now I'm going to go inside the library. I'm going to go in and check my email.

12:15pm  I just left the library, man. I wrote my mom an email, and I wrote this Jeremy kid. I realized that I was out of little papers so I cut some out and made one sheet of paper's worth. Sixty five little papers. My wallet is packed now and I am ready to pass them out. I don't see any kids anywhere.

I took a couple pictures of downtown Rochester on 2nd Street.

I took a picture of the Mayo Building. Mayo Medical Center. There's these cool four angels. I'm going to keep walking.

At 1st Street and 4th I took a picture of this angel holding the Christ child in his arms. I asked him who are you, but he wouldn't tell me. There's no plaque or nothing.

Ooh, I see a Center Street. Maybe it's busy.

12:37pm  I'm going to stop at some bench right next to Victoria's Authentic Italian. I'm going to sit down and smoke.

12:45pm  I just walked Center Street to Broadway. Turning right on Broadway.

                    Awesome sculpture.

1:21pm  I just randomly told Daniel my story on 2nd Avenue and 2nd Street.

He volunteered me five bucks! I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit, man. Thanks a lot.

That was just awesome. That just might be a sign to stick around. I was going to walk to the highway. Somebody told me there was a shelter I could stay at for like a week or something. What a blessing. Daniel understood every word I said. He agreed with my story real quick. I told him the spirit's part and everything and in the end he gave me a five dollar bill! I have to follow the signs.

2:00pm  I forgot to tell you. I was walking down the street and I see these two guys with backpacks in front of this church. Let me go talk to these guys. I walked up to them and asked them, "Is there anything cool in this town?" I told them I'd smoke them out and Jeff invited me over to his place. I'm telling him my story. He's listening too. I appreciate it.

3:24pm  Jeff and I are walking away now. He's taking me to this Dorothy Day place.

4:16pm  Kay, at the Dorothy Day house. Do you have a brochure I could take with me or anything with information on it? Umm, just look up Dorothy Day Hospitality House

They took a Polaroid of me, so I told them, "Alright, my turn."

                   My bed.

                   Prophets of Peace.

5:07pm  Me and Dean walked to this liquor store and I bought some cigarettes. Bugler Golds. We're walking back and we passed by St. Mary's hospital. I took a picture of Saint Mary.

6:50pm  We had a wonderful dinner at the Dorothy Day Hospitality House.

7:05pm  I just had an awesome presentation with Jackie. I took her picture.

She volunteers at the Dorothy Day house.

7:08pm  Renee just hooked me up with a cigarette in front of the Dorothy Day House. I appreciate it, Renee. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

8:06pm  I'm telling this brother my story outside the Dorothy Day House.

I told him the Note From the Rich and he has something he wants to say about it. "If you're rich you have no security."

9:04pm  I had a great presentation with John Kerwin

and I gave him my website. He hooked me up with a cigarette. I appreciate it, brother.

Man, I've been telling my story all night long in front of the Dorothy Day House. I am getting some believers. This one guy told me that he felt a jolt while I was telling him the spirit's part. He said that he was very receptive and sensitive to energy. He told me that Fawn wants me to know that I am the one. That I'm right. I'm not going to stop. I can't stop. I don't have a choice. What an awesome adventure I'm having.

Next day..
