9:05am  Man, what a wonderful time it's been. I just got dropped off, because Kati has a meeting at Sacred Grounds coffee shop. She dropped me off a lot closer to the barn. I had told her I wanted to walk out to the barn. We had a great night last night. Katie and I had sex. With a condom. I thought I was going to come real quick, but I didn't because of the condom. It was all good. It was awesome. I told Kati that I loved her last night. She said that she's falling in love with me. This is all so very strange and soon and fast and awesome. Anyway, I don't know what I'm going to do now. I just have no idea. I don't know where I'm going to stay.

Took a picture of my shrine.

I do have to go back to San Antonio and get my pictures developed. I'll come back, maybe. There's a really good chance I'm going to come right back over here.

9:46am  I've already been here at the barn for a while. Before we had left Kati's new apartment, we grabbed some donuts we had bought last night. Two maple custard-filled donuts. When Kati dropped me off she told me to take both of them and share. At the barn when AJ saw I was holding a bag he went, "Oh, what you got in your hands?" I told him, "I have two donuts. One for me, and one to trade the person who smokes me out." AJ said, "Ahh, you should just give it to me." Mooching drainbow. Nobody had any weed, so I just ate them both. I was hungry.

     10:35am  I just took a picture

of Ron and Rachel in front of us cooking bacon in the fire in the barn.

11:05am  I took a picture of the big grease fire in the pit.

12:13pm  I am leaving the barn. I'm going to go eat at The Endeavor. Man, it sucks. My sleeping bag and foam mattress are all wet.

12:30pm  I just saw Bill in the plaza and he hooked me up with an American Spirit. Thanks a lot, brother.

12:32pm  I got to The Endeavor and I saw Randi. She came out and gave me a big hug.

Sweet, they were closed when I got to The Endeavor, but Randi(who volunteers there) told me to go out by the back door and that she would bring something out for me. She brought me out some pasta with hotdogs and stuff. I ate a lot of it. I'm full now. I gave the rest to Jerome. He didn't get anything to eat either.

1:38pm  I just ran into Geba. He told me the cops are over at the barn! They're telling everyone to leave and running records. They're taking anyone with a warrant to jail. That means Mark. Damn, I'm lucky I wasn't at the barn.

Well, the barn is hereby closed. It was great while it lasted. Since September fourth. We need to contact the owner of the land and talk to him.

Geba: "I can't understand the city of Arcata. Where you've got a whole barnful of people working harmoniously together and getting along. Having family with more harmony than I've ever seen in any city-dweller. I asked the cop, "Do you have no compassion?" and he told me, "Yeah, I have no compassion." Over twenty people who have to go sleep out in the rain now because the coppers ain't got no compassion and the city of Arcata ain't got nothing but greed. They don't have no God in their hearts either. I would advise the city of Arcata not to pray. Because once you do, God will know what you did."

1:47pm  Siarra was nice enough to give me a cigarette. Thanks, sister.

1:50pm  I just talked to this girl who told me she knew the drummer for NOFX. I asked her, "El Jefe? Is he Mexican?" She told me yeah, that he lives on Hunts Road and drives a Toyota Landcruiser. Oh shit, that's what I need to do now. I get this big sign to leave Arcata, the barn being closed and now I will hopefully be able to do what I've wanted to do and talk to NOFX. Cool, I'm going to go find him.

2:08pm  I just ran into Starlight, the treesitter I spent the night with(9-14-03, 1:37pm). She's in front of the Co-op. She saw me and asked me, "Hey, didn't you stay in my tree one night?" I told her it was great seeing her again.

I'm going to walk to the Cash Oil and if anyone's going out to the barn, I'm going to ask them if they can grab my Third Wave book for me. I'm not going out there. If there's cops out there they might run my ID and I probably have a warrant by now.

Cool, I'm at the Cash Oil. I walked with Josh and Billy. I gave them a description of my book and asked if they would get it for me. I'm going to wait for them to come back here at the Cash Oil. I can't risk going out there and having my name and record run.

Screw it, I got tired of waiting for those guys to come back. I'm walking to the barn. What's life without a little risk?

3:02pm  Looks like we are having our last big smokeout at the barn. Billy rolled up this big Cheech and Chong trim joint. The last circle at the barn.

3:04pm  I just took a picture of Jose hitting our last bowl.

Holy shit! I just heard that Dave died! Dave that traveled with Jerome and who had that dog Keroak(9-08-03, 9:00pm10-23-03, 9:52am). That's crazy, man. That's terrible!

Man, it's somewhat depressing. Nobody is in the barn anymore. They moved out. I'm sure it's all because they opened that shelter. Screw sleeping there. That's where they want us to sleep. I'm going to go score me a donut.

4:09pm  Dude, Ranger Bob showed up at the barn. When he first walked in he was all, "Don't you guys fucking listen?" He asked everybody for their IDs and I freaked, convinced I had a warrant out. He ran my record and before he got the result I told him, "Hey man, about four months ago, this dude smoked me out on the railroad tracks and Nick came up on his mountain bike and gave me a ticket for possession of marijuana. I had told him I was just borrowing it. Anyway, I just ignored it, so there's probably a warrant out for my arrest." The lady came back with, "clear," and I got that dumbfuck feeling come over me, hehe. Luckily, Ranger Bob just told me, "Well, you better take care of that pretty soon. They must be behind with the warrants."

4:16pm  What a sad, overcast day in Arcata. The Community Barn is closed. Damnit, after two months of service. Well hey, I'm just glad I got pictures! Hehe. I documented every morning in the barn.

4:20pm  I just stopped and talked with Devan on the railroad tracks. He was all, "Did it really happen??" I told him, "Yeah, Ranger Bob is there right now." He said, "So I shouldn't go over there?" I told him, "Umm, you can go. You don't have an ID. You don't have to prove who you are." Devan said, "What if he finds out that I'm homeless? That's bad news." I told him, "Well, just don't tell him."

4:45pm  Jennifer gave me a cigarette. She gave everyone a cigarette.

4:46pm  Damn, I just realized I left my water bottle at the barn. That sucks! I gotta go back.

4:55pm  Oh yeah, I've been walking back to the barn. I'm going to go get my water bottle.

5:00pm  I just got to the barn. Nobody is home. I gotta find my water bottle.

5:03pm  Holy shit. Somebody knocked my shrine down!

Dude, the only person who would've done it is that bastard Ranger Bob. He was the last one here. That bitch knocked my shrine down! That sucks!

And, I can't find my water bottle! Man, what a sad, sad day in Arcata. I lost my water bottle that my mom gave me before I left San Antonio. Oh man. How bittersweet. I knew this place was too good to be true. Well, it was true enough for two months. And I have pictures!

Earl Miranda is the owner of the land the barn is on.

That was awesome. I just talked to this one bible-thumper guy. He had walked out to the barn lugging this big orange bag of clothes. He saw me and asked me, "Do you know if anybody needs some clothes?" I told him, "Man, the barn got shut down. The cops were here." He said, "Really? I know the owner of this place. This is private property." Anyway, I told him a lot of my scripture and he was agreeing with all of it. He kept talking about Jesus and the apostles and stuff.

6:20pm  Joe just gave me a big handful of change.

Ha, that lady with Joe was all, "The whole world will not read your book." I told her, "I guess it will be a surprise."

6:39pm  I ran into Kati! Good 'ol Katie. I told her, "Yeah, I was going to use getting my cameras at your house as an excuse to walk out there hoping you would let me crash." She was all, "Oh, you want to stay at my house tonight?" Yeahhh.

7:05pm  We came over to Lush's house to say hi. She wasn't home. Her roommate Jason had this cool boa constrictor, or ball python. I can't remember.

7:41pm  Kati has this wig on. She looks pretty.

Next day..
