San Antonio, TX

Thursday August 28, 2008

7:00am  I am leaving for the day. I'm going to walk downtown today. Training for my second walk around Loop 1604. I'm walking to EL Tropiko to try and score breakfast. I'm sure I'll get hooked up.

7:13am  I walked up to Citgo. Oh yeah, yesterday when I stopped at the Church's I noticed they had an ice machine outside. I'm going to see if I can access the ice this early. It might have a lock on it. That's my new ice-refill station for free. Sweet. They've got a scoop there and everything. I took a picture of the side of it, but it came out blurry.

7:27am  Francisco at El Tropiko hooked me up! Right when I walked inside he said, "Hey, San Antonio." He told me to have a seat real quick. I'm walking to the bus stop right now to sit down and smoke a cigarette. After-breakfast smoke.

7:36am  Leaving from the bus stop.

8:00am  I just walked to Bandera and turning right.

     8:16am  Crossing Eckhert.

     8:26am  Crossing Huebner.

8:36am  Walking in front of the Judge Onion house. I took a picture of the historical marker. I'll even take a picture of this new sidewalk they built, which barely anybody walks on.

8:49am  I was walking down Bandera and some guy just turned around and pulled over to talk to me. He asked me, "Where are you walking this time around?" I told him I was training for my second walk around Loop 1604. I quickly gave him my website and he said, "I already have your website. Havethisbook.com" Recognized. I think Jeremy is his name.

8:55am  Crossing Wurzbach. I was thinking about taking a rest at Loop 410, but I might just keep going. Screw it. I'll rest there. This is a training walk. I don't have to go fast.

9:02am  I'm taking a smokebreak sitting on this cement block on the corner. In front of the Bandera Road Animal Hospital. I took a picture of it before I sat down.

9:16am  I'm off. I took my shirt off. I'm walking down Bandera to downtown.

     9:27am  Crossing Callaghan.

     9:42am  Crossing Broadview.

10:14am  Coming up on the General McMullin Pizza Hut. Maybe that girl's there. I doubt they'll have any mistakes this early, but I'm just going to use the restroom.

10:15am  They open at eleven, so forget it.

10:18am  I went into Rita's Cafe to use the restroom. I should have hit them up for food, but it was way busy. Plus, I want to wait two hours in between rests, so I'll hit up somewhere else later on.

I think I'm going to turn left on Ashby right now. I'll make my way over to Woodlawn Lake. I'm not going to walk back home today. I'm going to stay consistent like I did last time. I'll ride the bus back home. I'll go to McFarlin Tennis Courts and harvest some balls like I did last time.

Hmm, maybe I will walk downtown on Bandera. I'm going to keep going straight on Bandera.

I changed my mind again. Maybe I will walk Ashby.

10:32am  Coming up on Woodlawn Lake. The pictures came out dark.  Josephine Tobin.

10:35am  I stopped and I took a picture of all these birds. I'm walking on the paved walking path that goes around the lake.

Picture of the light tower in the middle of the lake.  You can see the Tower of America's in the background.

10:43am  I'm going to go hit up Izabella's Mexican Restaurant.

10:47am  Juan at Izabella's is hooking me up with some food. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

10:49am  Sweet, scored me two tacos. To-go. I'm not that hungry yet. I'll eat them when I get to the tennis courts. I had put my shirt back on to go in the restaurant, but I'm going to take it off again. I like being cool when I walk.

Hmm, I'm on Cincinnati now. It seems like Josephine Tobin turned into Cincinnati. I just passed Zarzamora.

10:55am  Walking by Botanica Santa Barbara, this card reader. I remember I stopped at that house a long time ago and tried to tell my story. It was one day when I had walked downtown in the rain. I was wearing my sandals splashing through the puddles and my feet were all cut up and bleeding. I remember this nice lady there gave me some first-aid stuff. I'll be sure to look it up and put a link(7-25-07:1:23pm). The house is 827 Cincinnati.

11:03am  Walking underneath I10, Mcdermitt Freeway. Slash I35.

11:09am  Crossing Fredericksburg, going straight on Cincinnati.

11:11am  Turning right Blanco. I'm going to go to the tennis courts after I visit Leanne and Jade(1-11-08:5:31pm) if anyone is there. I don't think Jade lives there anymore, but I'll just go and say hi to Leanne. I'll eat my tacos and smoke then go score some tennis balls.

11:33am  Leaving from Leanne's porch. I rang the doorbell and this Mexican dude answered. He told me Leanne wasn't home. I asked him if he minded if I just sat on the porch and ate my tacos and he said he didn't care. I ate a taco and I have another one for later. Right now I'm going to walk to the McFarlin tennis courts and harvest some balls. Then I'll walk downtown. I have my shirt off and I'm showing off my muscles, hehe.

Don't forget to download my whole site before I take off traveling.

11:42am  To get to the practice wall I have to walk through San Pedro Springs Park. I saw this couple with backpacks walking by, obviously SAC students on their lunchbreak. I offered them my website and they accepted it quick. I told him I was training for my second walk around Loop 1604 and the guy said, "Wow, that's an accomplishment."

11:44am  No tennis balls at all at the practice wall, bummer.

     11:50am  Walking down San Pedro.

12:06pm  I am downtown already walking by the library.

     12:14pm  Travis Park.

12:29pm  Man, fuck the park police. I was just sitting down in the middle of the park smoking and this piglet walked up to me and said, "How's it going?" I told him I was the happiest man in the world. He said, "I noticed you were spitting." I quickly shot back with, "So? Are you going to write me a ticket?" He was all, "I can. Do you think you can manage not doing that?" Tough guy, big man, do what you can, you little piggy. Fuck the park police! I should take a picture of him, hehe.

12:31pm  Ha, and before that pig walked over I took a big hit of resin right in the park. Ultra-discreet with my special cigarette. Fuck the park police! I'm going to walk back home now.

I put my shirt back on. "Thank you for pot smoking." Everyone loves this shirt. Isn't it cool that I just so happened to have my shirt off when that cop walked up to me. He probably would've asked me if I had any weed and searched me. All I have is resin, but he might've been a dick and taken my one-hitter.

2:37pm  I haven't made an update in a couple hours. I had fun at Travis Park. I walked all the way downtown today with no weed. I had resin I was smoking. My mom had given me a couple dollars for cigarettes, but I bought a joint instead. I had asked this one girl who was holding her transfer out if I could look at it real quick to find out the letter of the day.   She let me see it and I had a good transfer I didn't even have to trim, free ride.  I never got her name. After I found out the letter I hit her up for my story and she was all ears.  In mid-presentation this one older lady walks up.  I pause to say hello to her and she says, "I'm listening, go ahead."  Awesome.  I love an audience.  The lady who walked up kept interrupting my presentation though.  She even told me, "Stop!"  I shot back with, "Listen lady, if you're not going to listen to my story she will, now shut up or go away!"  She let me continue, but not too long afterwards the cute girl's bus came.  I was sure she had my website.  Then the old lady started telling me god bless you and shit.  I told her, "Praise Love, it's all we need."  She said, "No, praise God!"  I told her, "It's not a person.  Everybody has it in them and it's all the same love."  She stormed off telling me, "You're wrong!"  Ugh, that stupid Christian believes in God but not Love.  When will we ever learn?
Then this one guy came up to me and told me he had some weed and he wanted to sell two dimes. He told me he had seen me yesterday wearing the same shirt. I told him to just ask around, but he said he didn't know anyone and asked me if I would ask for him, that he would break me off a little. Sure! I went and asked around and was only able to sell a nickel for him, but he ended up hooking me up with some nuggets! So I got weed for my typing tomorrow.
At the park some other dude saw me and said, "Victor? I thought that was you." It was Shane, this dude who had left a comment on my MySpace:

Jan 18 2008 3:59 AM

Man, the next time you are in Leon Valley, drop a line.

We can smoke, I'll make you some lunch.

I'm on the 88 right now with him. Oh yeah, I had found a good transfer in my stash so free ride. So, mission accomplished for the day. I had an ultra-productive day. I walked all the way downtown, I've got weed and I've got cigarettes. I am riding the bus back home.

4:28pm  On the bus talking to Shane I got to tell him lots of stories. I sung him the lizard's song and told him the Note From The Rich. It seemed like he enjoyed it. Then, this cute girl got on the bus and sat next to me. I told Shane I was going to try and tell her my story. I hit up Judy and she listened to me all wide-eyed, especially the marijuana part.  I offered to smoke her out. She said she was supposed to meet her boyfriend and we could all smoke. She's 37 and her boyfriend is 25. We got off the bus close to Broadview and we went to the place her and her boyfriend are staying at, this guy named Victor. I smoked them out. I'm walking home from here.  I took a picture of them all, but it came out blurry.

4:50pm  I was starting to walk back home then I noticed across the street at a bus stop were two girls and a guy. I figured I'd go and give them my website and ask the driver for a courtesy ride when he came.

When the bus came the cool driver hooked me up and I got on the bus. Then this other guy recognized me on the bus and I told him I was going to walk around the loop again. Just then this other guy starts asking me questions. He was wearing a shirt with a peace sign. Matte I think his name is. He seemed quite impressed and told me he worked at the Subway behind the Pizza Hut close to Huebner, that if I ever came by he might be able to hook me up. When he got off the bus I was able to read the back of his shirt. It said, "Walk the walk, talk the talk." I saw it and thought man, that would be a good picture. The bus driver was nice enough to let me off at the red light and I walked over to the Subway. I ended up getting there before Matte did and put some ice in my CamelBak. When he walked up I explained to him that I had gotten off the bus to take a picture of his shirt. He let me take that picture. I asked him if he could hook me up, but he said not right then with the manager there. I told him, "Ah, that's alright. I'll go hit up the Pizza Hut for mistakes."

5:00pm  Lauren at the Pizza Hut is being nice enough to give me an order of breadsticks with marinara sauce.

                   Lauren is really beautiful.

5:20pm  Oh shit, I was walking down Bandera and all the traffic was backed up. As I was about to walk past this one car I see the window come down and the lady driving asked me, "Aren't you the one who got stung by the bees? I'm the one who gave you a ride home, remember?" I'll put a link that that(9-14-07:10:53pm).

5:30pm  I am walking over Leon Creek right before the Mainland Walmart. They're making a walking trail through OP Schnabel and I had been meaning to check out the progress, so I'm going to. Remember that time I ran into that surveyor guy? I'll put a link(9-14-07:11:13am).

Future trail they're making.  I walked by that natural wall with the roots and the sewer thing that used to say Legalize Herb on it.  I'll put links to old pictures of it.  I got my boots all caked with mud on this hike.

6:05pm  I just had a revelation. I'm going to ask for donations on my website finally. I'll have a link that says Support the Cause. I'll say, "I need donations so I can get some more shirts made." That's true though. I do need donations to get shirts made. Honesty is the best policy.  I've sold all my shirts and it was really awesome being able to hand them out.  It really showed people how serious I am about this.  It's such a magical shirt.
I'm all stoned. I've had a wonderful day today. I've done plenty of walking today. I'm glad I'm topping off today with a beautiful hike in the park. "Living close to nature is excellent for your mental health." I forget where that's from.  I'm feeling high as hell. Flying through Palmdale. Just kidding.

Whoa, I just saw a doe, a deer. A female deer. I saw her vadge.

Random pictures hiking through woods. Antenna at the top of the cliff.

6:23pm  Holy shit! Somebody knocked the platform down. That sucks so much. What a hit. I lost my perfect view, not to mention that was a backup crash-pad. I'll take pictures.

6:34pm  That second picture is looking down.

I'm still going to smoke a cigarette and some weed and chill here. I'll sit down under the tree. You can't stop me. You can just get in my way.

7:06pm  I had an awesome presentation right now with this guy and his girlfriend sitting under the pavilion at the top of the cliff. They wouldn't let me take their picture.

7:12pm  Right now this girl was walking by and I hit her up for my website. She said sure and I gave it to her. Then I asked her if I could tell her my story, was she busy? She said she was just walking. I asked her if I could walk with her and she said sure. I gave her my intro and mission objectives. When I asked her if she was willing to listen she said she would rather read it. Planting the seed. Anyway, I'm walking home now.

7:32pm  I just ran into Colin, this dude who was skateboard in the ditch on Braun Road. He said he saw me a couple years ago. I'll search for his name.

     8:02pm  Home sweet home.

Next day..
