San Antonio, TX

Friday August 15, 2008

6:37am  I just woke up. I only got six hours of sleep. I'm going to walk downtown again today.

7:09am  Taking off walking downtown. I'll ride the bus back.

8:12am  I already walked down Bandera a little. I'm turning left on Eckhert. I'll go to Medical Center first and then downtown. I'm playing around with the idea of walking back today too. I don't know. Hmm, I'm going to go hit up Horacio's for breakfast.

8:18am  Scored at Horacio's, hell yeah. I'm going to find somewhere to sit down and eat.

8:21am  I stopped at the bus stop at Woodchase and Eckhert. I'm going to sit down and eat and smoke.

8:37am  I'm all resinated and I'm walking now. I've got a taco in my pocket for later.

8:43am  Walking in front of Marshall High School.

9:01am  Crossing Huebner. I'm going to go fill up my bag with ice at the Quickstuff Shell station. I wonder if Josh is working.

9:07am  Leaving the Quickstuff. I filled my bag with ice at the Jack in the Box. I'm going to keep going.

9:24am  I just walked Oakdell Way to Lamb to Babcock. I'm going to turn left on Medical and I'll walk Medical all the way to Fredericksburg.

9:33am  Seems like the Lodge Apartments changed their name to Broadstone. Lodge was pretty ghetto-sounding.

9:39am  Walking in front of the University Hospital main entrance.

9:41am  I'm going to turn right on Floyd Curl and then left on Louis Pasteur. I'm going to cut through the Oak Hills Country Club to Fredericksburg.

9:44am  I'm walking in front of the University of Texas Health and Science Center. I'll take a picture.

     9:46am  Left on Louis Pasteur.

It sucks, it seems they have built a fence at the country club. I see some people standing at the gate now. That sucks.

The gate's open and I'm just going to walk in, fuck it. I want to see them try and tell me shit. These two guys standing at the gate were landscapers or something. I told them I was just taking a shortcut to Fredericksburg and they told me they don't see nothing, hehe.

Sweet, scored me a tennis ball.

I'm going to take some pictures.

9:59am  Popping out on Fredericksburg. One minute before ten.

Holy shit. I just found me one of my old worn-out tennis balls. Right after Callaghan. Must be from the day before yesterday when I walked downtown.

10:13am  Almost to 410. I'm going to stop at Woodlake in front of the K&B Homefinders Center sign. I'm going to sit down and eat my second taco and smoke.

10:32am  I'm up from my break. I'm going to keep on walking. Almost to 410.

     10:37am  Crossing Hillcrest.

Just right now as I was walking in front of the Santa Fe Apartments. I ran into Nick, who said I met him in Venice Beach one time! I remember that time. I remember talking to some guy who recognized me in Venice Beach who worked at West Telemarketing. Hmm, I just searched my logs and either it was a different dude, or he called himself Raven. Here's the entry(1-18-07, 6:47pm). G305 is where Nick lives. Santa Fe Place. I wonder if Sam still lives there. J303, I think. When I walked by Nick had asked me, "Hey man, were you in LA not too long ago?" I told him yeah, last year I think. When he said Venice Beach I remembered him.

I'm going to go hit up El Campesino Mexican Restaurant.

     11:13am  Scored at El Campesino.

11:20am  I stopped at this bench in the shade at Redeemer Lutheran Church to eat my tacos.

11:35am  I stopped at that place and ate in the shade. I don't have any more weed, that sucks. I went inside the church and asked if they had a water fountain and I got some water. They let me use the restroom too. I made sure to give the guy my website.

Whoa, I was just walking down Fredericksburg Road and this guy and a girl turned their truck around to talk to me. I guess they saw my shirt. I gave them my website and the guy was all, "Do you want a joint?" He was going to hook me up, but he couldn't find it.

11:59am  I just ran into Crazy Jeff after I10, after Woodlawn. I remember CJ.(4-19-03, 3:40pm) He was drinking. He's still a drunk. I'll put a link.

I'm going to go in Estala's Cafe and see if I can get some ice in my bag.

12:16pm  Estela, en Estela's Cafe me esta dando hielo para mi bolsa. Te lo agradezco seƱora. Todo el mundo recibe
credito, gracias.

She filled it up, that's badass. I gave her credit in Spanish and gave her my website.

Shot of downtown from San Pedro.

     12:29pm  Walking underneath I10/35.

12:41pm  Just got to Travis Park. Let me see if there is any weed anywhere. I've got two bucks.

1:13pm  Awesome, I just ran into my friend Purcell. I'll look him up. Ha, not Purcell, but Cintrell.(5-14-05:1:50pm, 6-18-07:6:53pm, 12-05-07:6:23pm).

1:16pm  It was cool, I walked to Travis Park and was able to buy a joint real quick. My mom gave me a dollar for busfare, but I used it for a joint. I had a dollar in change too. Me and this dude who just got out of County Jail, he had been there a whole year for assault, he kept getting into fights so he stayed longer, we went to The Riverwalk and smoked two joints. That's when I saw Cintrell. Then I decided I'd go back to Travis Park and ask the people waiting for a bus, "Spare
change for a joint?"

2:23pm  I've got a marvelous update to make. When I first got to the park I bought a joint and matched another dude and we smoked on The Riverwalk. At first I was leery about going to The Riverwalk to smoke, but we went and it was all dead since it's a weekday. We sat on this bench right across the river from this Jose Antonio Navarro mural. Anyway, I went back to the park and right when I crossed the street I see these two girls looking at my shirt. I walk by and asked spare change for a joint. One girl tells me, "Do you have a paper?" My eyes lit up. The magic question. Brandi and Samantha. I brought them back to that bench I smoked out on The Riverwalk and they loaded up my one-hitter and they both listened to my story beautifully. Odyssey and all. Be sure to sign my guestbook, girls. Alright, that's enough. Just use your imagination for the rest. Nothing like that, hehe. They're sixteen and seventeen, I think they said.  Brandi had some slash-marks all over her left wrist.  I saw those and told her, "You can't lose hope.  I've got it all under control."  Her friend Samantha was in a bad mood and I hope I cheered them both up.

2:47pm  Me and my new friends are going to walk over to my statue with me. On the ground I just found a piece of paper with a random email address. sylvester_hannah@hotmail.com I'll keep it in my wallet and send her my website, hehe.

3:17pm  I am having such a great adventure today. We walked a long way to look at my statue. They took off though. They smoked me out and let me have a little for later.

I'm going to walk back home now. I've got it in me. I'm going to walk Bandera all the way home. I came streetside over by Rivercenter Mall. I'm going to walk towards Travis Park and then to Five Points to Culebra to Bandera.

3:51pm  Just walked to Five Points. I'll turn left on Culebra when I get up there.

     3:53pm  Turning left on Culebra.

     4:03pm  Walked underneath I10.

4:29pm  Just got to Bandera. I'm aiming for that Pizza Hut Rosie works at. I'm getting hungry again. Maybe she'll hook me up with some food. I think she likes me. She kept asking me if I was married last time. Married to my mission, I told her.

4:42pm  I just got to the Pizza Hut. I'm inside taking a piss. There's like three cops here eating.

5:01pm  The girl wasn't there at the Pizza Hut. I asked the girl inside if she could give me a cup with ice and she did. She gave me three total. Then I went outside and sat next to this building and took a smokebreak. The three cops were still sitting down and I'm sure they could see me outside smoking. I don't care though. I'm testing them.

5:15pm  I'm going to go hit up Taqueria Jalisco #6. Let's see if they remember me.

5:19pm  Maria en Taqueria Jalisco numero seis me esta dando comida. Te lo agradezco, Maria. Todo el mundo recibe credit, gracias.

5:20pm  Sweet, score. Two tacos to-go. I'm not going to eat them right now.

     5:34pm  Crossing Hillcrest.

5:45pm  I walked by The Automotive Fitness Center on Broadview. They know me there. This dude Errol, I think his name is saw me and I walked over and said hi. I told him I was training for my walk around Loop 1604. I asked him if he had my website and he said, "Havethisbook.com, right?" Right now I went across Broadwaview to the Conoco. I stood outside waiting for people to come outside so I could bum a cigarette. The greedy ass Middle Eastern guy inside came out real quick and told me, "Move." He had a phone in his hand. I told him, "Or else what? Do what you can. I won't leave until you go back inside." He stormed off inside.

Right afterwards I walked by the Autozone and Jeremy Keith hooked me up with a cigarette. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit. Thanks a lot.

5:49pm  I came and sat down in the shade in front of some old person place and smoked a cigarette. I'm going to smoke some weed and rest.

6:00pm  I am leaving from my break in the shade. It's not that hot anymore anyway. I ate those two tacos I just got. They were good. I am taking all my trash with me. I've got a trash pocket.

Be sure to add Internet Celebrity to my introduction.

It seems like Monday is my take-off day for Loop 1604. Two days left.

I was thinking, umm, my name is already on the map. Deep in the heart of Texas. San Antonio.

     6:28pm  I took a picture of the Bandera/410 construction.

6:36pm  I just walked under 410 right now. I took pictures.

6:42pm  Just passed Wurzbach. There's been tons of traffic piled up. It's been great publicity for my shirt.

                   Shot of Bandera Road.

     7:03pm  Passing Grissom.

7:05pm  Passing Poss Road. Be sure to add to my head injuries story, "Sometimes you have to learn the hard way." Put that in the title. I passed Huebner already. I forgot to mention.

I'm going to go in the Pizza Hut and get some ice.

7:25pm  Adam was nice enough to give me a couple pitcher's worth of ice for my bag at the Pizza Hut on Bandera. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

7:36pm  I had an impromptu rest in front of Pet Town Dog Grooming. I'm walking home now.

     7:41pm  Passing Eckhert.

8:02pm  Just got to Guilbeau. Turning left.

8:15pm  Passing Wickersham. I'm not going to take the Wickersham shortcut. I'm going to double back the way I came. I'm going to figure out the mileage of this walk later on on Mapquest.

     8:31pm  Crossing Tezel.

8:33pm  Walking in front of Stevenson Middle School. My Alma Mater. I'm going to get hooked up at the Church's, watch. I'll tell them, "I just walked all the way downtown and back, for world peace. You guys don't want world peace? Give me some chicken." Hehe.

8:42pm  It was cool. I walked up to the Church's and there were other people waiting for their chicken. The Middle Eastern guy who works there saw me and asked me what I wanted. I told him I had just walked downtown and back and he quickly said, "Okay, my friend. Just wait." Awesome.

I'm going to see if I can bum a cigarette at the Citgo.

8:49pm  Steve hooked me up with a cigarette at the Citgo. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit.

9:01pm  At long-last I have returned. The eagle has landed.

I'm going to get some water and eat what I got hooked up with at Church's.

10:30pm  I have all my stuff collected. I've got my laundry going. I'm washing all my clothes. I'm going to take a shower now.

Next day..
